Electric motor may be better but we need to develop better battery system. What they have even on Tesla is the same as those battery in vape units. You can recharge only so many times. We need something more durable.

As a side note ..... I now have the ability ti charge my electric mountainbike totally solar. It is hella cheaper .... but not as good on rainy days.

Sorry, Barry. I'm not being a d-bag when I ask this, but aren't mountain bikes supposed to be just pedal powered?

You would think .... but 70% of all new mtb sales are electricassist.

Pretty good bits of gear ... google them.
I would do, mate, but I have a deeply obsessive nature when it comes to gadgets and I might end up making a purchase that would get me in trouble with my old lady.
Besides my last mountain bike got stolen, so I am giving them a swerve at the moment.

They are a bit overpriced atm .... maybe wait a few years then buy one for the missus first ... they seem very accepted by the ladies as well .... then you can buy one.

Mines a bit .... non-legal on power ... and I find myself doing trails I did 40 years ago on old elsinores. Fun bits of gear and keeps you riding when you probably would have given up.

But now is the time to be setting up the infrastructure. Before we no longer have fossil fuels.

Did a price comparo when charging via fosil fuels though:

Emtb <10c per 50km
Car $4 per 50km
Moto $2 per 50km

My personal philosophy is the same as yours in this regard Barry, even regardless of global warming, which I can’t disregard scientifically, fossil fuels are not called same for no reason, and absolutely we need to develop the alternative technologies and set up the alternative infrastructure while the resources are still available to do so.

You would know better than I do, but I understand the cost of production of the batteries, both in the artificial construct which dollars and cents constitute and resources expended including various rare earths is quite significant.

My sister actually has a Tesla S as it happens which is ludicrously rapid but doesn’t do it for an aging Luddite such as I am in the same way a powerful internal combustion engine has always done.

I sure did! Got me a 2017 brand spanking new & I've re badge it back to original. All major auto publication says it will be a collector car with time. Based on the used prices on the Pontiac G8GXP "VE Commodore" safe to say they appear to be accurate.

What is John Cadogan beef with Australian manufactured cars?

Nice. I have a Maloo R8 LSA.

Cadogan doesn't like the government subsidies.

I like any form of racing and MotoE is racing. The problems I have with it are many. Firstly, the lack of sound. Secondly the short races due to battery life. Thirdly, the absurd weight of the machines which means even falling over in the kitty litter means its the end of the race and the fact that the marshals are not allowed to touch the bike if the battery alarm indicates a danger. This means that races would have to be red flagged to recover machines and the impact on full length races would be a disaster.
