For those looking for GP on Speed this weekend,DONT
This is one of the 3 races that CBS will air.It is 1.30pm to 2.30pm.Im not sure if there will be any pre race programming or not but pass the word. This will determine the future of bike racing on network tv here in the states.

CBS was promising all kinds of pre and post race extras and interviews, but the time slot is only one hour.

I was really disappointed in the CBS coverage. After reading the announcements about it, I was expecting so much more. I was telling all of my friends to make sure to watch, hoping to convert them, and now I wish I hadn't bothered.

After watching the race live via MotoGP at 5 in the morning, I made sure to wake up at 10:30 and see how CBS can handle motogp. I have to say I was also dissapointed. The commentating was dissapointing. At least they have Kevin Schwantz but him and the other guy commentating got nuttin' on the real motogp commentators. I just tuned in to give them 1 extra viewer for their ratings. I hope we get televised races from here on out. I know CBS is only contracted for like 3 races or whatever.

Yeah, that reporting was just lifeless..I all of the sudden missed the guys from speed channel..
<

Plus they had the sound of the bikes turned way down so most of what you heard was their wired commentating..
LOL, Kevin couldn't take his eyes off the teleprompter..it looked odd, because he was talking but not looking into the camera..

I suppose we should be grateful that they aired it at all, but just as you said...it was lifeless. I think that other guy (not Kevin Schwantz) even called the guys drivers instead of riders. I know it's not a big deal, but it somehow drove home the point that he lacked knowledge of or interest in the sport.

I really appreciate the Speed Channel guys now.

Disspointing coverage. It was not in Hi Def. the video feeds were standard Dorna stuff, the only difference was the commentary.

As drDan pointed out the "other guy" was useless, did not have much knowlege of the race, and made stupid and often erroneous comments. thank god for Scwantz who had to correct him often.
<

then other guys kept calling the race on a "play by play" fashion. the comments did not add much value to what I was watching. Rather, it seemed like it was designed to keep you posted of what was going on in case you went to the kitchen and could not see the screen. It seemed like the boradcast was being tailored to attract the NASCAR audience.

BTW, before some of the guys go about praising SpeedTv's coverage, bear in mind that the voices you hear are not speed commentators. Thats part of the Dorna feed too. The only time Speed does its own commentary is during the Laguna Seca. And they SUCK big time -- much worse than CBS's first attempt.

Feed back to the CBS site has been submitted..

Yeah, I didn't think the guys that do the commentating on speed are from speed channel itself..
And I actually like that loud english dude on there..at least he gets excited when there is good dog fight..

p.s. What did you guys write to CBS?

To be honest, I heard the MotoGP.com commentary team and I thought they were terrible. So god knows what the CBS guys were like
<

MotoGP.com commy's are okay.. i had the Parish and the Cox to listen too.. i really cant work out if i like them or not

Well, I like the guys that do the commentary when I watch the races on Speed Channel. So, who are they? And who do they actually work for? They are way more animated and knowledgeable than that CBS "other guy".

One of the main guys that commentates on Speeed in Nick Harris They've changed the other guy.. I wrote to CBS that they should stop wasting thie money onn the "other guy" and just give us the Dorna feed.

I agree. the race was good no matter what. but the speed dudes are alot better and are way more colorfull. the schwantz interview with stoner was after the race and dull. and on the plasma tv in hd it was croped to a 4.3 version. sucked good picture but to small. so I switched it back to the regular channel. not as sharp but bigger. at least it will promote more watchers maybe.

I was dissapointed it was not in HD either. Apparently, dorna will start offerign a HD feed in 2008 or 2009. Lets hoe it comes over to CBS then. But, can we have decent commentary from knowlegeable commentators, please?

CBS Sports will be airing MotoGP on Saturday, June 30th. I think it's at 2:00 (EST). This does mean no SpeedChannel coverage again, right?

yup..if on CBS..no SPEED channel...GOD i'm glad i have the live feed, cause the commentary is gonna SUCK again if they bon't use the MOTOGP.COM boys...
