More questions, this time RDP

With this break I've been re-watching 2010. After watching Silverstone (fantastic race!) and Assen today I started wondering what this year would have looked like if RDP had gotten that 3rd factory Honda instead of Sic. He was doing really well with his satellite LCR. Why not RDP?

DePuniet is the wrong nationality. It is enough to have a Frenchman on the grid. The good bikes are for Italians and Spanish riders only. DePuniet needed a break like Stoner got when he landed a Factory ride as a third choice only. The opportunity for that break has long since past DePuniet unfortunately. Had he got it though he would have been right up there at the front as would plenty of others had they been carrying the correct passport.

DePuniet is currently shopping the (thinning) World Superbike paddock. Capirossi and Elias are doing the same.

He finished plenty last year. And ahead of some good bikes and riders. I don't think he likes that duke...

De Puniet was very impressive on the LCR Honda last year. It's a shame that he's on uncompetitive machinery.

RDP could be an alien if he were on the Honda/Yamaha factory bike.

Go back and watch some of his 250 races. He gave just as good as any of them.

But alas, Yes he is the wrong nationality. The same bike that Hiroshi is on right now he made look really good.

The politics of Motogp eats talents and ruins careers if you are on the wrong side of it.

Cuz he's done .... all in his motorcycle career. Token French rider.

If I remember correctly, Cecchinello bought the factory kit for last season. Not saying de Puniet was on the same level of machinery as Pedrosa or Dovizioso, or even Simoncelli, but it was better than the rest of the Hondas. I'm a big fan of RdP, but I don't think he was ever going to be a regular podium contender, regardless of his ride.

That is a bit of stretch, he was a race winner in 250's but that was a different class and a long time ago. Even then he wasn't consistent enough to make a convincing championship run

Why the .... do you watch Moto GP?

Every rider you post about is .... done or .... all!

Is there anyone you actually do like? Please enlighten me on who is worth watching! In Your Opinion!

I agree. DePuniet is fast but lacks the precision of the best. Even Spies labels precision and consistency as his own weaknesses, and he's stronger in those departments than Randy.

He wasn't on the top kit bike in that class either.

don't get me wrong...I am not saying he is Rossi. But we see what Rossi is like on a bike that is not competitive.

We see Melandri, Checa etc go from back of the pack to superstars on competitive machinery.

The old Soupkast from KRJr shows that if you are not slated to win by the powers that be.. You won't run at the front or at least not for long.. interesting topic though..carry on

I think DePuniets bike was definitely worthy of winning the championship, if he was up to it. As for Checa and Melandri, we see them going to superstars because they are racing against slower competition. Don't get me wrong, i think DePuniet is an excellent rider and much better than his current results show, but i don't think he has ever shown himself to have motogp alien potential, especially not based on 250 success, where is Poggiali?
