More bad news

Dakar and Enduro rider Isidre Esteve crashed last Saturday in the Baja Almanzor in Spain, suffering a severe injury in the back among other minor injuries.
He will have surgery done on his back to try to repare the damage but Doctors say there's a big chance he will be paraplegic.

did it say what part of the back was damaged? sheesh, i hope everything turns out well. Prayers and wishes for him.

Esteve has had surgery on his back and as his team has confirmed (KTM), Esteve is now paralyzed from waist downwards, doctors say that with a lot of rehab he might regain partial or even total mobility because his spinal cord wasn't completely snapped, but his career as a bike rider is over.

I hope the best for him in the future. Suerte Esteve.

Sad indeed.
It takes lots of time for them to see if there is going to be any progress. I hope he will be able to cope with this new situation, new way of life. I know I' wouldn't.

Depends on the prognosis of his physiatrist and physiotherapist. Hope he gets the best of care.

I am sorry to hear this, but maybe he will recover. He is alive, and with life comes hope. This race seems like the winner is whoever is able to make the finish.
