Miller breaks his leg

Just over 1 month to the day that Rossi did his. Now according to the report, he hopes to be back at PI, which will be 21 days after breaking his leg. God I hope he does, because I bet that none of the MotoGP Media will make such a frenzy of his return as a certain other rider.

The tibia is the bone which is important, and it is unusual to break it without breaking the fibula from usual forms of trauma, unless it was related to a an abnormally healed previous fracture or to surgical hardware.

That'll explain why my 4½ year old femoral neck break still hurts when i jar it, question? Would it improve if I got the titanium pin and plate removed, just thinking ahead for later life.

You have obviously been treated by an orthopaedic surgeon who could give you much more expert advice than I could.

My impression is that with young people with relatively uncomminuted/unfragmented tibial/fibular fractures, forearm and wrist fractures etc they tend to take the hardware out eventually. Femur fractures are a bigger deal, usually result from significant trauma in the young, require a big nail which is harder to take out etc.

I had a femur rod removed because: A. The top developed calcium deposits and was irritating my hip and B. the orthopedic surgeon explained the dangers of a bent rod, should I ride again and have another break. I didn't think I would ride, again, at that time, but I worried about falling off a ladder, or bicycle or skis. It was a pretty big operation, but I am very glad that I did it.

I typed following off a ladder. I have no idea why. My excuse is that my brain is full of Las Vegas.

That's unfortunate for Miller. I hope he come back asap. 21 days would be a hell of a fast recovery from something like that, no?
