Marquez: Yamaha lost a really good rider

We didn't need Marc to tell us this information. But the world champ pretty much says the folks in charge "jarvis & Meregalli" are idiots! But Herve had already mention that...........

Asked what he can see Zarco doing differently compared to Vinales and Rossi, Marquez replied:

"Of course there are different riding styles between them. Maybe the most similar is Johann and Valentino. Maverick has another riding style. But it's not worse or better. I mean it's different and sometimes it's better, sometimes it's worse.

"But it's strange [that Zarco is the fastest] and I can't answer this because even they cannot answer and they have all the data. They have everything."

But as a 'neutral observer'…

"From a neutral observer, Yamaha lost a really good rider - I mean, he's going to KTM!" Marquez responded. "At the moment he's the fastest one.

"Of course the experience of Valentino is really good and Vinales has the speed. But at the moment Zarco is doing a great job."

is it possible that Zarco and tech 3 have figured something out with their M1, that the factory team has not? Zarco seems to ride the M1 in a more off the "rails" fashion, where as the factory boys seem to have their bikes set up tight.

I have read somewhere that he reportedly uses a lot softer suspension setup, this of course allows the bike to pitch more under braking and acceleration. The advantage of this is it increases weight transfer to the front and then the rear, the downside is that more weight transfer in theory loads the tyre more. So if he is running a softer setup, I think a lot of the difference is his smoother riding that allows him to make use of the extra weight transfer without loading the tyres too much.

I think the 2019 should have been Lorenzo/Zarco on that Yamaha while 2018 Lorenzo/somebody. I think that Yamaha (for that specific bike) lost two very good drivers in a span of two years.

I have stated that I think Maverick is over-rated. However, he obviously can win races against the other fast kids, so you are right, there is a mess at Yamaha Moviestar. It is so obvious that Zarco is faster than the other boys. However, he does rely on softer tires too much, which makes him suspect as a consistent podium winner. I wonder what Iannone could do on a Yamaha. That would be a Yamaha team, Iannone and Zarco.:p

1 1/2 kamikazee's in one team? As a racing fan I totally like the idea and I would expect a lot of sparks on track and some precious points lost due to team internal fights ending on the tarmac (see Ducati Dov/Ion). As a team I think one would fair better with the Lorenzo/Zarco or Zarco/Pedrosa type of line up.

There's an interesting interview of Herve after last year's COTA race where he talks about how Zarco became the target of Rossi's vindictiveness after he dared race him. Dont forget, Rossi was penalized, err I mean "time correction" when he avoided being passed by cutting the track. It was during the bit while they're waiting for the pre-event press conference. Frankly, I'm surprised Lin Jarvis didn’t order his bike detuned further to keep him comfortably behind the factory bikes. Zarco has been on the front row of every start this season, and embarrassed the factory squad at Argentina, even before Marc became Rossi's scapegoat.

It really is unbelievable that Yamaha would let Lorenzo and Zarco go in part because Rossi's objection. I can't blame it on Rossi if the people in charge go with it. It's Rossi's job to manipulate every possible factor in his favor. What's head shaking is that the racing organization goes with it to their own detriment. Viñalez was looking good to start the season last year, then it all went down hill. Zarco has been representing Yamaha brand on the podium, and they're like, no soup for you.

That headline is hilarious. I bet Uccio is fuming.

There's another article there that had me rolling, particularly this bit:

'The Italian was critical of them because of his way of overtaking, to which Marc would have responded “we have learned from you“.'

It also highlights once again Carmelo's role of being Rossi's bodyguard and lawyer, apart from being his sport agent.

"At this point, CARMELO EZPELETA calmed the two pilots and the meeting came to an end, drawing an important conclusion: FROM NOW ON, the Panel of Commissioners will be STRICTER in PENALIZING the touches between pilots, either with Black flags or even to prevent the participation of the penalized pilot in the next big prize."

They should have added, 'with the exception of touches against others, we're only concerned with touches on Rossi. Here's looking at you Jerez.

Ha! As has been said before, it's absurd that this has become the catalyst for change instead of Sepang 2015.

Zarco got blocked so hard that he got a better state engine, a choice of frames and the latest aero package that his predecessors at Tech 3 never got. That unfortunate soul.

Make no mistake, I have said many times that Yamaha should have signed Zarco. But to say he is actively getting sabotaged is French diva drama (From his manager). Look at the bike Syahrin gets to ride without any say in the spec. That’s what Zarco would be riding if they wanted him to stay in the mid pack.

I suspect some negotiation was needed to get the bike updated, along the lines that Zarco required similar spec bikes to the factory ones, so that the factory are able to look at his data and attempt to replicate it on the factory bikes. If the bikes were totally different, any comparison between Zarco and the factory bikes would be worthless.
Re the blocking; Valentino does have previous form in that department, so it’s difficult to totally refute it. Stoner was reportedly blocked and Lorenzo’s signing infuriated Rossi, he was happy with Colin Edwards as his team mate. Colin actually stated live on tv on Sunday that he wasn’t employed to win, he was employed to be a buddy to Valentino and keep the harmony inside the team.

Reminds one just how much of rossis racing is "off track"

Pedrosa was at HRC prior to Marquez.
Dani earns his place at HRC by winning races every year...
