Hawk,
Therein lay a major difference IMO.
After the chequer has been shown there becomes no 'racing line' and (as Jums alludes to) generally speaking all riders button off.
To me, what CS (sorry Jums, responding here not raising it) does after the chequer in this case does not correlate to what he does during 'live' track.
The fact that he mentions his displeasure with slow riders whilst criticising Marquez is unfortunate in that it can easily be read as 'does he part blame Willarot' but that is his way (ie. speak, engage gear now)
Apologies to Jums for mentioning CS again, damn must be a bopper

I'm just bringing up the fact that Casey says stupid .... that is irrelevent to what happened with W/M. The riders are told where they are allowed to practice their start, it is at turn 3 here. This is even more reason for Casey not to bring up the going slow on the race line. All the riders know that after the flag other riders will be stopping at turn 3 to practice launch. You are correct, no more racing line. Some one braught up Casey and I found the coment that Casey made to be ignorant and an excuse to further his cause when it had no bearing on this incident. If anything W and the french rider were correct to go slow in the area where the riders are going to be conducting practice race launches because riders will be traveling slower in turn three so they can stop and launch, the only time stopping is allowed on the track is after the flag, and only one lap is allowed after the flag. The very reason race direction tells all the riders the places on track to practice launching is so that this type of incident wont happen. "Guys slow down before turn three because there will be a gaggle of bikes stopped there to practice launching". As far as riding slower on the line, well there is a proper procedure during practice, the blue flag. So if a guy is riding at his best but is still slower than another rider, who does the line belong to and who is responsible to go around, this is in the rules. I'm not talking about cruising on the racing line, in which Casey is obviously correct but he complains about guys being slower than him and that isn't a valid argument as the rules state what to do in that case, hint the line doesn't belong to him. The FIM rule book is available to anyone who wants to look at it online.
