To be clear - when I say some of us - I include myself. Agree about the thin-skinned part. Maybe not so much about the Google thing. He wrote long well-informed replies that were filled with some pretty esoteric facts. As a person who's made some money as a writer I didn't get the sense that his replies were all copied from elsewhere. I think he was pretty passionate about the sport. Anyhoo... it's all moot now.
Yep... took me nearly a year... I'm thinking about going back in my shell in case I incur Jumkie's wrath... I am of a nervous disposition...

That's the norm, not the exception with GP. You can point out a few years where there is a third option but they're few and far in between.
