MotoGP organisers have arranged a bodyguard each for Jorge Lorenzo and Marc Marquez for this weekend's Italian Grand Prix in order to minimise the chance of an incident with Valentino Rossi’s fans.

The explosive finale of the 2015 season is not yet in the past for a portion of those fans who support Rossi, who remains the sport's most popular rider.

This is something that was especially evident at Qatar, Argentina and Le Mans, where Marquez and Lorenzo were the target of booing, both on the grid and the podium.

It is believed that, worldwide, eight in 10 MotoGP fans support Rossi, an average number that in Italy rises to nine in 10.

Because of this, next Sunday's race is a very special one for the Italian rider, who will be in front of his home crowd, while Marquez and Lorenzo will be in foreign territory.

Both Spanish riders are aware of this, and they will try to keep a low profile during this weekend in order to avoid an incident with Rossi's fans.

Minimal exposure

Neither Lorenzo nor Marquez will have any sponsor events and, although the Yamaha rider will have the support of 100 members from his fan club, nobody from Marquez's fan club will travel to Mugello.

"30 members will arrive by plane from Spain, 30 other will travel from Italy, 30 more from different countries and 10 will travel by bike", someone from Lorenzo's entourage told Motorsport.com.

"They have the general admission ticket and they will try to stay away from Valentino's fans, although it will be difficult because they are everywhere around here", the source added.

When it comes to this situation, Rossi was asked in Argentina if he would make some kind of appeal to try to calm any fan that might want to harm Lorenzo or Marquez.

The Italian's answer was significant: "I didn't do it, but my fan club did it, which is as if I have said it."

Added security

The one responsible for preventing any incidents that might put the riders' security at risk is Helios Xaudaro, the Events Director for MotoGP promoter Dorna Sports.

The company has decided to go largely with its normal policy, so the security will be almost the same as every year in this circuit.

"However," Xaudaro explains to Motorsport.com, "we have asked the German company that provides us with security personnel for access to two more employees.

"Lorenzo and Marquez will also both have a bodyguard who will be prepared and will have a green light to act if the situation requires it."

A third security specialist has been assigned to Alex Marquez, Marc's brother.

Dorna will also increase surveillance in the motorhome area, which usually has security during the day, and in Mugello will also be watched at night.

A disgrace that the sport has come to this.

It's ok though because Rossi's fan club has asked for folk not to be fucknuggets. Very high profile that.

What they said /\

I personally don't believe that.

Remember people trying to get into Marquez's box at Sepang? Hell even Rossis helmet guy tried to confront Marquez mid race. Lol at media hype, if anything this hurts Rossis image so there's no way this is just media hype.

No bodyguards will protect Marquez and Lorenzo from bad Karma which they have brought on themselves.

Rossi image

I think the image of Rossi is taking a massive hit at the moment. I was at the Le Mans MOTOGP and the booing of Lorenzo was ridiculous.
This sport is being ruined by Rossi fans who are behaving like football fans and resorting to any tactics .
Would it be any surprise if Marquez or Lorenzo were to be a little `put off` by all this ?
Lets hope not and either of them wins at Mugello and keeps the sport competitive and fair.

Rossi endangered other riders by being a paranoid narcissist and verbalizing his boneheaded opinions. Vale, the solution is, as it's always been, to go so fast they can't .... with you. If you can't do that, take your lumps, bitch boy.

Notably in the press conference Lorenzo embraced having bodyguards ("let them do their work") and Marquez said he told Dorna that they were not needed. Well then let the fans do their work Jorge!

Lol at MotoGP organizers worried about this guy showing up...

Rossi fans aren't going to do .... to anybody. All bark and no bite.

Media hype?

Not even close.

Marquez had armed protection in the paddock at Valencia because of Rossi's fans.

Get a clue dude.

I was at Valencia and it was as usual a great event, our stand was filled with fans of all the top riders(Amarillo) , there was no trouble or anything like it, just Moto GP fans enjoying the weekend. Were you there?

Shovelhead was there and he had this to say...

All I have to say is that the area behind the Repsol Box has 2 armed security guards.

Looks like you're wrong again. (Shocker)

I said what I saw and heard on the amarillo stand , tell me what I got wrong about that.

Because as usual you think anecdotal evidence carries the day. Your post was intended and implied to make it appear that because everything was fine in your section, that things must have been fine elsewhere. i.e.; Since everything looked fine in my section, it clearly contradicts your claim about armed guards in the paddock.

But this is also understandable due to your natural proclivity to suffer from myopia.

For example, if I went to certain coal mining towns in West Virginia that are filled with Donald Trump supporters, I could easily walk away with the impression that because support for Trump is so strong there, this must hold true for elsewhere in the country. This of course isn't actually true because I could go to say Berkley, CA where there would be no real support for Trump. For me to think that a town in West Virginia is a perfect representation of the rest of the United States is an anecdotal fallacy....much like your experience in one grand stand at Valencia.

Stop embarrassing yourself.
