Houseworth hasn't had a too much of a problem setting up Ben's bike in the two years at tech 3 and during the pre season testing. Obviously there was no data to go off of for the new format so everyone was starting from scratch but all evidence from testing indicates Spies was moving in the right direction and would be a challenger.

Tech3 was a different ball game - they had a few years into that bike and knew what to do to make it handle. Similarly, his first year at Yamaha they had a ton of data from all the previous riders to work through.

But this is a new bike, with new tyres. And they don't have any data.

That's where I think Houseworth is becoming unstuck. It's not that he won't get there, but the guys with 15-20 years in GP engineering are getting there quicker - specifically, the very tight and technically astute boys at Tech3.

I dont think De Puniet will do anything especial even on a fac honda, if he was there now he would have crashed every race with this chatter problems..

No question the dude is very fast when he wants to be. I just don't understand other than the fact he is the only French GP rider, as to why he is still in GP. I would love to see him mixing it up, but he has had how much time to do it and yet he just doesn't perform. Maybe he should go to SBK.

He did very well when he was on the Playboy sponsored Honda and then the next year had the ride taken away. He's been on .... bikes ever since.

They were doing fine in testing. Also, Houseworth took the first year Yamaha in WSBK and made it rideable for Ben. I would have to agree that he is in a bit over his head but not to the point where Ben is riding in last.

Dunno - his qualification times aren't so bad, but his race at Le Mans just seemed to go away from him. From 6th to 16th, even after the retirement of three other riders. I know he had to replace his helmet/visor, but his lap times went away a lot...

His fastest lap came towards the end of the race, and was about the same as the other Yamaha's slowest...

Just as with Rossi, his talent didn't just go away. He is a race winner, a multiple champion, riding one of the two best bikes in the paddock. What's the difference? It's a new bike from last year.

I don't know enough to point fingers at Houseworth, but it does seem to be the area where his team differs from the other Yamaha teams.

I don't believe Ben went bad over the winter.

So to the argument over Spies, this is what Meregalli just said has happened in every race so far.

"His team director, Italian Massimo Meregalli, told Italy’s Mediaset: "The early part of the season has been more difficult than expected. It all started in the Qatar warm-up with some problems that we thought were due to a worn tyre. Here he began to have trust issues with the front, which reoccurred in Jerez, while in Estoril, as we compared set-ups with Jorge, we saw that we were better than Lorenzo. In the race Ben made a series of mistakes for which he paid the price. Le Mans was a case of real bad luck, because his tyres were spinning up at the start, after which he had water come into his helmet and he had to pit. Certainly, the year could not have started any worse.""

Every single excuse seems possible, except Portugal - he could barely get by Bradl!

He better pick up the pace soon - this is getting really dissapointing for all his fans, like me.
