I've just booked up to go to the GP at Lemans, and was wondering if anyone has been and camped there before. There are 3 sites to choose from, "Panorama" "aerodrome" and "Houx".

Basically I would like any information about staying at the track for a long weekend, and which campsite has the most fun in it!
<

Thanx

Ok Ive spoken to my collegue..

He said for the first couple of years he and his mates stayed at the trackside campsites, he said they are packed to the rafters, do not expect any sleep as they are all lively , it is that crowded !!! campers resort to erecting flagpoles so they can locate their tents. The terrain is also very dusty so expected to get covered in ......

Like Donnington allow 5 hours to get off site.

Alternativly he and his friends now use a campsite 8 miles from the circuit at a village called Ecommoy, and drive in on each day as Le mans host 2 huge parking areas, the camp is quieter and the water hot and cost is around 5 Euro a night.

Here is some info on others you may want to consider..

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>These are more peaceful than trackside camping, and being in rural areas, there is a reception area, showers, toilets washbasins and domestic sinks. Electricity is an optional extra. They offer a reasonably priced and easily accessible alternative to trackside camps. Each campsite is 3-star and the same prices apply to each one - please indicate your preference. The figure after each name is the approx distance in miles from the circuit

1 .Le Pont d ’Orne Montbizot (12)
2. Le Port, La Suze sur Sarthe (11)
3. Des Vaugeons, Ecommoy (10)
4. Municipal, Roeze-sur-Sarthe (8)
5. Du Pont Romain,Montfort-le-Genois(15)
6. Du Houssay, Spay (4)

Or maybe you will take the plunge at the trackside ones hehe

we left at the last minute 2 years ago but stayed outside Le Man at a wee hotel, was packed with bikers and we had good craic, then rode to the track, seemed an easy option
