Nicky had just finished his question and answer session on the Speed TV stand. All around us, women and children were picking themselves up off the ground after being cast aside by Jum on his path to #69.........Jum says to me " Ya think I should get this signed by Nicky ? " and shows me the watch on his wrist. The new Nicky Hayden Tissot ( Chops and Bonnie, what a beautiful present to get for Jum ). Nicky gets bundled into a BMW and heads off.....

I said to Jum " Well he is back here tomorrow ", but then we decide that it ain't practical for him to sign the watch anywhere, so I say " Let's head over to the Tissot stand and see if they have something like a brochure or a flyer for this watch. Get Nicky to sign it and keep it in the helmet style case the watch came in "...Jum says " Good idea " and we head over there.

We both stride into the Tissot stand and walk up to one on the assistants waiting for some help. In front of us is a dude brazenly flashing off his Nicky watch from the Honda days . The assistant then says " Can I help you guys ? "...We say " Is Nicky planning to be here at anytime over the weekend ? If not, you got any brochures about this watch ? I wanna get Nicky to sign it "

The assistant then says " You just buy that watch here today ? "

Jum says " No. Why ? "

Assistant says " Well we have been waiting for those. Where did you get it ? We thought our allocation wasn't even gonna arrive in time for today. They have only just got here"

Jum says " Really, had mine for a few days "

Assistant says " They are VIP only..Can't believe you have got one. They are VIP " She was shocked.

You should have seen the smile on Jum's face. We had strolled in to Tissot, but we strutted out feeling a million bucks. When we got outside we looked at each other, high fived and burst out laughing.

Damn near Royality i say

Thanks for stealing my thunder, I had this story in my back pocket and was waiting for this thread to die down a bit before I unveiled it. Hahaha.

Ok, now that the cat is out of the bag box....

On Wednesday evening before the send off-BBQ, Roger and Bonnie corner me in their room. Roger starts saying how much fun he had in 08 and likened it to a dream come true. He started to talk about how we've become such good friends and how he wanted his family to come out and experience a taste of what he had experienced on his first Laguna trip and that would include getting married in Vegas. Then he starts to talk about how in his country, the best man is given a gift by the groom as a token of appreciation. It was a very eloquent speech, about how he felt I was part of making some good memories, he called it "dreams" (I don't really want to quote him, as it would seem I'm tooting my own horn, but suffice it to say, it was a humbling thing to hear). Then Bonnie gets this gift wrapped box out, wrapped in Union Jacks. She hands it to me.

So with my wife in the room, I start to unwrap the beautifully decorated box. I try to be careful, as it seems it took an exquisite amount of time to wrap and I'm reeling from the words spoken by Rog and Bonnie regarding the gift. I'm slow about unwrapping it, to which Roger says, just tear it apart mate! The paper begins to reveal a box, and one of the things I see is red and white stripes, then a 69 peaking out at me. I start to get nervous, because me being the ultimate Nicky fan, I've seen something very similar (perhaps the picture of an orphan kid looking into the window shop glass exibiting the facial expression of something he longs for, but knows he could never get, comes to mind). The box, half way unwrapped now, and I start to think in my mind, No dude, no! I don't allow my emotions to betray me, I will control it I think, as perhaps what is in the box isn't what I think is in the box, and I don't want anybody to feel funny. Honestly, whatever it is, I'm grateful, but if it is what belongs in that box, then I will probably collapse.

12754:Tis bx.JPG]

I see the thing is factory sealed, so then I start to feel sweat developing and I wipe it away from my forehead, and start to say, "No dude! No, no, please, no man. No bro, I hope what I think is inside is not what I think it is because that would be entirely too much and not even right." Roger says, stop your whining and crying mate, just open the damn box. Bonnie in the background with watery eyes and my wife in complete shocked silence not really knowing what was about to appear, but knowing it was a big deal. I start to open the box.

12745:Tis 1.JPG]

12746:Tis 2.JPG]

Out comes a Nicky helmet, and I start to see a glimpse of what this helmet houses. I could see my wife thinking, that is cool, a mini replica of Nicky's helmet. "Holy ...., I say to Rog, no ....... way dude. Please, take this back, I'm not worthy and its way too much for a friend to accept." My hands now shaking, I struggle to open the helmet visor.

12747:Tis 3.JPG]

Now my wife starts to understand, and now her shocked silence knows why I'm starting to get emotional. Jesus Christ man!

12748:Tis 4.JPG]

Roger and Bonnie and his family gave me a Nicky Hayden limited edition Tissot watch! What else can I really say? Its an amazing gift and totally undeserved! Roger said, I want you to wear it, don't let it sit around because you're too afraid to put it on. Its indestructible. Then he brings out the KJV Bible size users guide and warranty, and starts to explain everything about the watch. To be honest, I heard about 3% of what he said, as I was just looking at the watch and admiring how nice is this thing.

12749:Tis h 1.JPG]

I've worn it everyday since with pride, and every time I look at it the memories of Laguna Seca 2008-2011 come to mind. Its a beautiful thing, and if you were there with us, you have a good understanding of the synergy that we all experienced as a group. Even like some of you reading the thread who feel part of it because you're reading the stories, you understand that it transcends actually being there physically. And its true, because you guys are all really part of it. I can't count how many times I heard people say the following during the weekend: "I can't wait to get on the forum to tell this story..." Every single person said this at one time or another. Why? Because we are all part of a large group of peeps here, and some of us lucky ones got to go on this one, but (at risk of sounding gay) the rest of you guys were still in our thoughts and minds. Even for those we banter with, you guys were in our lips several times as I heard people mention members by name and say, 'man, what a riot it would be if he/she were here.'

Let the good time roll!

Judging by that gift, it says a lot about how the relationships on this forum have evolved. By all reports, PS has a lot of upstanding members worthy of that kind of friendship.

For those of you who don't get the inside joke, CaliGayKid gave GaytorDuc a watch. But his was a $1500 GIJoe watch (I swear as God as my witness). At least Roger's was a Nicky Hayden limited edition, not gay.

BTW, Curve, have you seen this?

Shoulda got 'em one them "self-winding" deals.

Wow beautifull watch.

Have you seen the Rossi version? Its considered by many to be the finest timepiece. It costs a lot more money. A lot more engineering was required to design it. It looks the same but uses newer parts. Its supposed to be more fluid and consistent but so far it tells time at exactly the same rate
