Kevin Schwantz FB Statement Regarding COTA

Statement by Kevin Schwantz

I have read several reports regarding my attendance at the MotoGP test last week in Austin. I would like to make this statement:

"I had been in Switzerland over the weekend where I was the guest speaker at the St. Gallen University. I returned to Texas on Tuesday evening and on Thursday I was at CotA for the MotoGP test, with a proper credential supplied by the Attack team, to coach Blake Young. Additionally I was an invited guest of the LCR Honda team.

While there, CotA security informed me that CotA management requested I leave the track immediately and was not welcomed at the circuit. CotA's security force also accused me of criminal trespass and warned I would be arrested the next time I entered the track.

This comes as a tremendous disappointment to Honda, Blake Young, and myself. Especially because I am single-handedly responsible for bringing MotoGP to Texas and for the initial design of the facility to accommodate MotoGP racing."

that is disgusting, just because of what happened before! if you are invited and have credentials but 'the management' want you escorted off, I am truly shocked

The incident was widely reported a while back, but largely ignored; even though it has long been established that COTA is owned and operated by USDA Grade AAA Sleazeballs.

It seems that the great herds of drooling cattle now preparing for the headlong stampede to Austin just don't want to hear it... :(

So what do we do? do we all boycote moto gp? do we all burn images of management/essy? no we just move on and enjoy our racing as Kevin should just go to court and take his damages and move on and spit the sour taste from his mouth,as upset as he is if he is correct he will win calling someone a .... on facebook does nothing for anyone.

very sad.

What's the current status of the Party House or houses?

If I go, I'll be driving from Az, and will bring camping ..... How much will a wide spot on the floor or back lawn cost?

Thanks

KS is correct in bringing more expose to this dastardly and cowardly treatment by COTA.

All that said, I'm still going to the race. I'll wear a "treat Kevin right" t-..... Hopefully I won't get thrown out.

Get me one made in large, I'll sort you out on arrival.

We all should wear one!

On the friday at least ;)

How's his lawsuit going?

I don't care for the way he's been treated at all, but does he really think he's going to be a welcome guest?

I thought I had posted this here last week when it happened. The article was in German and didnt really catch on, but today several English language articles have come out on the topic as Schwantz has released a statement about the incident.

Twitter is blowing up in Schwantz's defense.

CotA management obviously doesn’t fathom the depth of respect MotoGP fans have for Kevin Schwantz. It may be the newest and best racing venue in the U.S., but it seems as though CotA management is going out of its way to make motorcyclists dislike the place....Last year Kevin Schwantz filed a suit against CotA owners saying he got squeezed out as promoter for the MotoGP round. If you’d like to send CotA a message regarding their despicable behavior regarding Kevin Schwantz, they can be reached here: circuitoftheamericas.com/contact.

The episode underlines that the dispute between Schwantz and CotA is far from settled.

As well as advising on the design of the circuit, Schwantz is president of 3FourTexas MGP, which closed the original ten-year MotoGP deal (due to start in 2013) alongside Dorna Sports and Tavo Hellmund's Full Throttle Productions company.

At the very least go on the COTA's FB page and express your disgust.

This (though I bet they'll take it down)

I don't think he was expecting to get Xmas cards from the COwards executives, but he applied for a proper credential as part of the teams testing there. Did he violate some kind of restraining order or break a law for being on site? KS expected the circuit to act profession toward to the personnel tasted to organize a competition while he has a rather technical legal dispute, that perhaps was a mistake. I almost can't believe it happened the way it went down, but then again, its just another lesson in the long list of dastardly lesson imparted by the manners of rich powerful ..... and their immunity to shame and consequence.

I see a business opportunity. $19.99 T-shirts on ebay. I'll buy two. Its up to us. God knows the gutless sport media won't ruffle any feathers.

(And I'm sure security will be instructed to drag anybody out wearing one).

I finally found something I disagree with you. With all due respect, what you speak of is an idealistic gentlemen's disagreements with the lofty belief that somehow, justice and truth will prevail. Justice seldom prevails. The reality is, the court of public opinion is sometimes just as important to wage, friend.

If I'm one of those teams that got Schwantz credentials and put him on their guest lists, I'm not at all happy.

They did say that when they told Schwantz to leave. He was a credentialed guest of Attack, and an invited guest of LCR, both of whom paid for a share of the 3-day test, at $50K /day..
