Important Announcement Brewing From Toseland
by dean adams
Wednesday, June 20, 2007
Current WSBK points leader James Toseland's PR flack informed us that he'll be making an "important" announcement tomorrow at Donington. The release they sent out did not reveal what this announcement will be.

Current speculation has it that Toseland has signed with an unnamed MotoGP team for 2008 and this will be his announcement tomorrow. Further speculation has it that the team is the Rizla Suzuki MotoGP team. Both Chris the V and John Hopkins' contracts are up at the end of the '07 season.

Toseland has told the British press--repeatedly--that he won't go to MotoGP just for the sake of a MotoGP ride. If he goes to MotoGP it will have to be with one of the top teams and on a bike capable of winning. Series organizer Dorna will certainly be pushing to get a Brit in a good team to help their television contract relations but they are going to have little leverage at a Yamaha/Ducati Marlboro/Repsol Honda squad.

Honda seems to be trying to convince Toseland to stay in WSBK.

Other speculation has it that Toseland's announcement has nothing to do with any ride at all.

Stay tuned.
