Fuggin Glory hunter!

I remember you kicking Bayliss when he was down!
<

I know!

Always rooted for him deep down as my family bleed Ducati though, and he's an underdog (and you know we Brits love an underdog).

I should've put some money on Bayliss down for the title after his Donny accident, I'll be a richman if he beats Toes.

Troy Bayliss 21 points back is not an underdog by any stretch of the imagination. He's the reigning champion for gods sake.

Coming from 68 points back is THE underdog.

Its not as bad as it sounds considering that they do two races per meeting. Its like a motogp rider coming back from 34 points, which is 3 or 4 weekends work if things go your way. Also considering he got into that position mainly through crashing from the lead of a race rather than lacking pace or form, i would never call him the underdog.

He has also had some average to poor results this year, but it's world superbikes and all the riders seem to be like that.

This is alittle of topic, but what has happened to Tech 3. Just a few years ago they had Marco Melandri and Carlos Checa as riders and had Spainish #1 as a sponsor. Now they have a decent rider in Makota Tamada and I do not even know the name of the other rider. And they are the sole provider of Dunlops effort in MotoGP. On top of that, they have no sponsor. Just a yellow bike. What happened.

Rossi happened, and sucked the Yamaha bank account dry

Also they never had Checa he was a factory rider, they had Abe.

Sylvain Guintoli is the other rider and has been outclassing Tamada all season. Especially considering most predicted him to run well off everyone's pace, including Tamada's.

Tech 3 Yamaha is the only team running Dunlop tires in 2007. They are also the title sponsor of the team.

When a factory spends all its resources making a package work for one rider or team, they are not going to take very good care of their "satellite" teams. I'm not saying Yamaha should focus less on Rossi and help Tech 3, their strategy brings them world titles and that's well deserved. But what happens is when you have a rider like Marco Melandri or even Carlos Checa riding Yamaha machinery and having a tough go of it with very little factory support, it gets frustrating. After a few riders learn their lessons, it's hard to land top-tier riders to ride on an A-/B+ motorcycle for a C team and little to no factory support. And this is all before we even bring into the debate of their contract with Dunlop.

Remember 2006?

I feel pretty stupid for forgetting that, however i read the comment as though it was talking about the old days when yamaha had fortuna backing and checa rode the factory bike in different colours to rossi in 2004.

Maybe you're right. I thought the same thing and then remembered last year. Either way, not too important.

Not to worry, you've answered the question that was asked very well so i don't have much to add to it.

No chance, that Yam is the best bike out there and he still won't win on it.

He just isn't as good as Bayliss in terms of pure talent.

PLus, Bayliss ain't no druggie.
<

No need to slag Nori. Blindlingly quick, just not consistent enough to challenge Bayliss or JT for the crown.

I'll have to respectfully disagree with you guys then. If he hadn't had some bad luck (bike crapping out, Biaggi trying a miracle pass) he would be leading right now!

And the lack of a championship is whats giving him the fire this season, IMO.

We'll see! And at least he isn't a smug ....... like JT.

Personally I think Jt or any superbike rider should grab any GP bike they can, nd get out and prove themselves. The last thing JT needs to become is the new Foggy. "I would have gone to GP on the right bike". GP is and was the pinnacle of bike racing, and no one coming to the class should expect the best machinery.

Who impresses most, Guintolli riding the wheels off the Tech 3 Yam in France (ok, he crashed, but so did Casey a lot last year!) or Loris putting in unremarkable results on the Duke? JT has nothing left to prove on a super, he's won the title, and is up front this year. (riding great I have to add)

Do the decent thing James and go up to GP.

Agreeed.

Rubbish, Nori isn't fast enough. He's been at least as consistent as JT and more consistent that Troy, if he found the extra something he needs he would be a champ. But if count for nothing and maybe he doesn't have it, i certainly wouldn't mind seeing him lift a crown after all these years of trying.

absolutely! if the opportunity presents itself any who refused would be a fool.
