Johnny Rea man crush thread

He did his disastrous comeback round Y2k in a dress. Total car crash to watch, some good music but holy .... he was away with the fairies! Bottled off at so many gigs an festys. Allegedly stopped wearing women's clothes after a moderately successful bike racer called him gay.

I knew enough about him not to make any claims concerning his sanity, but whilst unfortunate this doesn't make searching for the young soul rebels in particular, and too-rye-ay, bad albums.

Not at all Michael, I think the guy is incredible, but he did suffer some mental health issues. Like I said he still produced some great music, but the press slaughtered him.

In all seriousness, Rea will do better on the Honda, than Elias did with the Duck

With 10 minutes to go in quallie, Rea is doing better on the Honda than Rossi and Hayden are doing on the Duck... you know - those expensive full-time factory riders?

anything new on the gresini situation?

its become a bit quiet about redding, i've heard hes very upset that he didn't get the pramac ride.

a hint that gresini isn't really on the cards for him?

if honda are behind rea he could be the perfect man for gresini to improve their standing at honda

The word is that Scott Redding and Alvaro Bautista at Gresini Honda although Marc VdS might be leasing the HRC satellite with Redding and Gresini go fully CRT... nothing confirmed as yet.

stupid 4 bike per manufacturer rule still in place?

if there are teams willing lease a prototype why not let them do it?

the more competitive bikes the better

If a bike doesn't have factory engineers associated with it, it's a CRT.

If they want bikes on the grid, there are ways... if the money is forthcoming.

Gee you pomm's!! I just found out that Rea is part Irish part Aussie ( he spends 1/4 of his time here in Aus!! ...... might explain the whinging at him

He admitted after the race that he is still learning the bike, "not even got close to finding the limit." Pretty scary moment when he had the bike in knots in the braking zone

Jeez I saw that. I think it was Birdman that was fairly calling members on 'armchair' criticism (including mine) of Rossi's commitment this season. .... - imagine being thrown onto that bike and into such a quality field. You're accustomed to squidgy Pirrelis and wallowing superbike suspension as opposed to a rigid fully fledged prototype 260bhp prototype - the preserve of the most talented rider on the planet...suddenly you have to counter intuitively brake hard and deep into turns using vicious unforgiving carbon brakes just to get the Bridgestone tyres to work. To a rookie, that's what the off season is for..to get accustomed to a moto gp bike - then a season to learn how to ride it. Hard to conceive and easy to criticise from the relative comfort of a couch.

He was also quick to remind any detractors that he is merely a replacement rider.

Tottaly agree with that.

I'm praying for Gresini to go full CRT and Rea gets the remaining Honda at LCR next year. I want to see what he can do in MGP. I believe he has what it takes to be successful.

And he's a really cool character as well. In fact, he's my new favourite rider!
