Jerez testing.

of course taming the 1000cc monster with current gp chassis/tyre technology is something else , but what i meant is that i would guess that the 250 guys probably had a harder time adapting or at least it would take more time because the engine character of their bikes and the lines they were accustomed to were much more different to what is the standard (or at least was the standard in 10/11) in moto2. don't know if the clutch was designed that way intentionally to encourage a bit of sideways entertainment for the fans or whether they have impoved on that tbh

Food for thought. Wither the 250 riders from that last lamented season now? So perhaps you're correct. But then who has moved up directly from Moto2 and done a whole season on a 'proto'? Not enough data/anecdote to tell?

I hope this is actually reflective on what is to come this season.  More possible dry race winners. I didn't get to follow this test very closely.  What's the explanation for the order?

Not sure but Ezpeleta will fix it before the first race.

That settles it. Crutch will be 2013 champ.

I have always valued your expertise and opinion. I agree. Cal to win it all !

From the time sheets, it would seem Cal's fast lap was in the middle of a decent run of laps, 9 at something approaching race pace. Rossi's fast lap was in a series of: out lap, fast lap, fastest lap...pit. Same for Bradl.

Now most interesting....go and have a look at Lorenzo's 22 laps in a row in the mid 1.40s....then look at the erratic times of Marc Farquez. The new saviour.

When Vale retires, does anyone believe it will be anyone OTHER than Cal getting his factory seat?

I'd say it's too early to tell. We'll have to see how Cal performs this year & the next. There are plenty of potentials out there besides him.

I wonder how much time Cal thinks about his moaning that Ducati didn't sign him... Dodged a bullet.

even if rossi retires in 15, cal will jump at the first chance to get on a factory bike should he get one before that. and he should - there are others coming up and i wouldn't be surprised if yamaha wanted another young gun to partner the champ.

i'll place my bets on lorenzo, seems like the honda guys didn't learn the importance of race simulations last year.that surely must have been a major part of his success, lorenzo is as fit as can be.

now for the most important part : bradl is faster than marquez when they got the same exhaust.

Credit where it is due. Just goes to show that when Cal spends less time with his mouth open and more time with the throttle open he can make up for the supposed second rate bike he has.

The Aprilia's are starting to close the gap - within 1.5s is more like it.

Pedrosa is the winner of this test for me. Nothing shows self confidence with the Honda like hitting the snooze button and going back to sleep.

If you added Stoner in there, this would be one of the highest quality fields in a very long time. Probably is even without him, I can't think of a better one.

hitting the snooze button is a double edged sword to say the least.

have either pedrosa or marquez done a full race sim?i'm pulling for dani this year ,hope he knows what hes doing and fit enough.

doesn't matter who you are,you can't beat rossi and lorenzo if you're not in the best possible shape you can be

I don't see the importance of race simulations.  I see it as a waste of time churning out laps when you could be coming in and translating what you feel so improvements can be made.  The only reason I would suggest it is a good idea is if the rider feels they need to do it.  Lorenzo obviously feels he need to do it because he does it even on a race weekend so good on him but if I was managing a team I would not permit it for any other reason.

As far as fitness goes, at 5-10million a year I would expect my rider to turn up ready to race physically, mentally and emotionally.  How they do that is up to them but they would not be doing it on my time when I have $100,000's of engineers sitting in the pits waiting to diagnose and tune the bike.

Really? I would have thought a race simulation means you've stopped ....... around with bits and are now in a position to use that knowledge to have a better understanding of tyre use and changes due to fuel load. Also pulling a dozen more laps at times that others couldn't match on their hot laps has to be good for your mental state.

I like Cal's wild eyes, that is a man who would be thinning out the local prostitutes if he wasn't a famous muddaboike rider.

WTF!!! I was just about to join the rossi bandwagon and I come on here and see that its actually Cal. that has won!!!

Cal is the only rider who could spoil Marquez's winning of all the races in a year.

....while griping that he should be thinning out a better class of streetwalker and that he had to pay for the knife sharpening himself.
