How many of you think like me that James Ellison is a very talanted rider or do you just think he makes up the numbers ?

I don't know..... we've never really seen him on a competitive bike. He may have the potential, but we won't know until he gets something better than the Tech3.

We can see better in a good bike. For example ducati or honda. His tyres, his bike or technical arrengment ... Everything is bat in Tech3.
I think he has a potential but he cant use it in a suck team.

I`m not sure. I mean it takes talent just to get into the motoGP, unless your name is Cardoso and you`re filthy rich. But some riders are just better than others, you know? I have no doubt Ellison could go faster and probably get better results on Michelin RCV, but then again who couldn`t? (other than Makoto "I`m allergic to french rubber" Tamada) He might be able to do better things on a competitive bike, but I doubt he`d be at the same level as the front runners. I don`t mean to take anything away from him, but I suspect one of the reasons he got a ride on an under funded Tech 3 bike was because Dorna are giving old Herve at Tech 3 support for keeping a British rider in the series. If you look at it rationally, fans of riders in his position always say that their rider could do better with better machinery, but his teammate on the same bike is still beating him. A teammate who was a regular top tenner on a factory bike last year. A teammate who is also in the twilight years of his career. Using Checa as a yardstick, I don`t think Ellison could do that much on a faster bike. That said, he has his place in the series, and I`m not saying he should sod off. He`s still not the worst guy on the grid, and at the end of the day, not everyone can have the competitive macinery anyway. Someone`s gotta ride the slower bikes, otherwise the grid would probably be less than half the size it is now.

Technically he`s actually the British version of Pedrosa, being the fastest guy from his country in the championship, but that sounds pretty sad, dosen`t it?

I tend to agree with Richo on this one. I've been judging him by Checa and he always seems to finish right behind Checa. That being said, Checa was a near podium guy on the Ducati when he was on. When he was off he didn't finish much higher than where he does now. Even on the right team, I don't see Ellison as a podium guy. I think if you put him on a better team his results are going to be similar to Elias or Tamada. But who knows, I've been wrong before. I'm still holding out hope that BBoz will prove that his 2001 season wasn't just a flash in the pan. The best thing Ellison has got going for him is his patience and maturity. That and he's British.

I am a bit lost in your comments?
Do you know out about Ellison?
To compare Ellison with Cardoso is a joke!
do any of you no out about Ellison? what the boy has done!

Haslam is surely much faster than Ellison.. i really thought he'd be doing better.. very very dissapointed! he aint getting a new contract surely? if wcm comeback... then again.. they like old irish man Jezza Mc! lol

I know what he has been nowhere near Checa, and Checa is no Championship material, so it's plain logic.

Haslam cant beat his team mate! and Greg is an man whos hardly knows the british tracks!
I could understand if you said Toseland.

I'm holding out hope that Haslam will be the next British hope. He seems pretty quick and is still young. And he's the kid of Rocket Ron, he has to be good.

i forgot about him.. that makes 2 british riders, interesting to see Ellison's times to last yrs Shakey Byrne's lap times, at the races he raced ofcourse! if he had a decent ride hed be top 10! Shakey numro uno uk! lol

Haslam is that guy who almost went as fast on his Airwaves Ducati as Bayliss did on his own 999, isn`t he? I think MotoGP`s a pretty long shot from there, when was the last time a rider came sraight outta BSB and onto a competitive motoGP bike, but I like the look of this fella. I reckon Ducati should bin that one hit wonder Lanzi and team him up with Bayliss in '07, all contracts allowing. If he can prove himself in WSBK< then move him to the MotoGP team. But that will take a few years. A few years Ducati don`t have. Who know`s when Loris will hang 'em up. They need to start training his sucessor and they need to do it ASAP. The Duke's more of a handful than the RCV and the M1, they need gifted guys like Loris to win on that thing.
Anyway, enough of Ducati, back to British riders, and JT. Isn`t Toesland a bit of a bullish rider like Bayliss? If so, he`d be a lot better off staying in WSBK than trying to adapt to a motoGP bike. I don`t know about many of the guys in BSB, but Shakey won`t come back unless he`s on somthing decent, and even then who knows if he`ll be good, Hodgson`s had his shot, He`s better off in SBK, too. I dunno. Maybe Britains just in a drought at the moment compared to countries like Spain and Italy. It really dosen`t make sense to me, seeing how big motorcycle racing appears to be in England.

I can't see him being anything big, maybe a podium guy in BSB or may even WS, never Moto GP. He can't best Checa, who is in the latter stages of his career, infact he hasn't beaten him at all this year. We'll never know how good he truly is until he gets more experience, and is put on a more advanced bike.

Lets face it, we've got no chance. Maybe with the exception of Bradley Smith (and i still have my doubts about him), I dont see a British front runner in the pipeline.

The closest we have is Jezza McWilliams (don't forget, he got a pole in Phillip Island on an uncompetetive KR) but then again how old is he now? 42?
