<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (mylexicon @ Sep 6 2008, 12:24 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Why are you laughing at fact, and why don't you know them? DORNA don't have an operating agreement with the tire manufacturers. Ezy said earlier this year that he can do as he pleases to remedy the tire situation. The only thing worth debating is whether or not he could keep a lid on control tire testing during the season.
So not having an agreement ment with tire maufacturers enable them to do what they want?
The Regulations were still FIM's last time I chacked, not Dornas. And btw Ezy was crytal clear that he could NOT do as he please.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>I'd be happy to explain it to you. DORNA can take MotoGP (the sport they own the rights to and a controlling interest in) and split. They could make their own series with their own rules and the FIM could do nothing about it. The same way the manufacturers could split and make their own series whenever they want.
No .... sherlock. You know what, I could also start my own series.

Why would they have to force him. Yamaha certainly would have wanted Rossi and Burgess. Dorna handed Yamaha a check that made sure they wouldn't get outbid. Duh!
And you have as allways not even the slightest tread of indications for that. Not even the probability.
Edit: Considering he at that time thought he was free off the Italian taxes and by far the best paid I fail to see how money could influence his choise.
If you want a conspiracy on that theme, at least you should have suggested Dorna payed Yamaha so they could afford him, as his price would be a matter of pride not "making money".

I was trying to point out that the old tire is still the best at some venues. Kawasaki have had a few uncharacteristic results this season. Why was Stoner yanked off of the 2007 when it is quite clear they have many usable applications. The old tire is Stoner's choice tire.
No it wasn't and isn't, It was his choice at Quatar. The Kawa thing proves you were wrong and that the rest has gone for a faster better tire that they also want to go to, just like Suzuki could with their new chassi. Nice thing to brig up, killing your own theory.

Can't say I agree with that statement - but it's a fact that competition improves the breed. When the stakes are higher - the R&D curve is steeper.

It may be different from what I thought last year, but I think they should either go to a control tyre/tire or go back to the pre-2007 tyre rules. The primary aim of the current rules was reputedly to reduce costs, and I strongly doubt this has been achieved, rather the contrary.
