Is Camier a challenge for MotoGP?

Why would Camier get a MotoGP ride when there are plenty of good riders on MotoGP's ladder rung in the 125cc and 250cc??

If you want a MotoGP ride, stick to their lower class series. BSB will lead you to WSBK, and then you will have to become a multi-champion in that class for MotoGP to even take a serious look at you.

It's all about getting your name out there and being marketable, BSB is regional.... Moto is world stage.

Yeah, it seems like a championship at BSB is pretty much as valuable (if you're looking for a Moto GP ride) as a 10th place in 250s... WSBK championship is maybe as good as a 3rd in 250s. Am I rite?

Well.... Randy DePuniet placed 8th in the 250cc championship standing in his last year there. After that he got a ride with Kawasaki in MotoGP, go figure.

Leon Camier would probably thrive in WSBK but not MGP I would say.Wouldn`t like to see him go there and be another Toseland saga(who I`d love to see back in WSBK incidentally).

I'm sure he'll do great in WSB, but I can't really see him getting back into GP's any time soon.

That seems to be the way to get there now. Webb, Redding and Smith all went through the Red Bull Academy and the Spanish 125 series before 125 GP, and probably look like being our best chance of a GP world title some day.

Keep an eye out for Danny Kent in the Red Bull Rookies cup this year.

I watch AMA and it's not close to MOTOGP. It's racing.

Now if you asked if Mat Mladin was MOTOGP worthy, I would say yes.

The last 2 times Mladin had a wild card in WSBK he had 2 DNF's, a 10th and a 4th place. Hardly any better.

I'm not sure I see anyone in a domestic series that could eventually wind up in MotoGP in five years time. I don't know that many will argue with me, certainly with my first point. He had his opportunity on the world stage for the year and he didn't light the world on fire. He didn't disappoint but he proved that he's certainly not the type of talent ready to head to the pinnacle of the sport. Ask a silly question, get a silly answer.

Sackfack. my motivation to the question is due to the gap different in points. i accidentally glanced at the gap differences on the bsb site before i even watched the first few races. thats why.

Best of luck with that, mate. But a top post. Mature, too.

Maybe an extra race win and some more points difference. Also, the top 4 riders in points last season have moved on, and the one rider that was giving him a challenge got torpedoed after 4 races.

Keep in mind that I'm only looking at the points and do not follow BSB. That said, no one in the field other than Camier was even within 200 points of Byrne at the end of the year.

Anyway according to the points table he'd do better than ellison who did respectably on the WCM but poorly on a dunlop shod M1 though he was h=the ponly one who had the chassis rossi rejected.

Camier is having a fantastic season, but there is no doubt his bike is the best on the grid and most of his serious competitors have suffered injuries. If Spies AMA record doesn't get him straight to motogp then Camiers 09 season wont stand a chance.

Looking only at the numbers as someone who doesn't follow BSB, I'm not necessarily convinced it's worth a step up to a good WSBK team even.

Now that Camier holds the season wins record, I think he's on the WSBK radar even though Guintoli has been injured.

I hope both Camier and Guintoli move to WSBK next year. I can't imagine that Brux would keep Kagayama after this season. Guintoli was doing quite well before the injury so I hope Suzuki take a gamble on him after when he returns to fitness.
