Biaggi was Lorenzo's model. He grew up with a big poster of Max in his room. Rossi knows that, very well.
In fact, they have a very similar style. They are so smooth and elegant, one always thinks they are not really pushing hard -- but then the timesheets may say a different story.
Great riders, both of them. They like each other. Do I like them? Naaaah...

haha this makes a lot of sense.
maybe rossi spotted lorenzo hanging around with biaggi at the time and swore to himself to eliminate any of biaggis offspring
rossi doesn't hate lorenzo, it's just that lorenzo reminds rossi of biaggi and rossi races best if he has an opponent he hates ;-)

Sorry, this is really plain wrong...
Rossi was a Capirossi fan, at the time Biaggi and Capi were very bitter rivals in 250. This is why he began teasing Biaggi when he was still riding in 125, before they actually ever clashed on track. And this also why Rossi and Capirossi have always remained friends, despite teh rivalry on the track.

I remember that Rossi was a Capirossi fan in those days but i had the impression that Rossi still admired Max and had no problem with him until he arrived on the scene in 125 and their egos had a chance to clash. I know Rossi started all the disrespect and bitching but i perhaps my memory of what i read is too kind on him still
