Ilmor Out

This would be an ideal opportunity for Mr Bloor from Hinkley to give them £10,000,000 and say 'go racing but write the name Triumph on the tank'. That'd be a foot in the door for a well known british biking name.

This is pretty sad news, I got the press release from Ilmor this aft...........very strange.

I'm sure a professional and experianced company like Ilmor wouldnt have been under any illusions about the costs of going racing, especially starting a brand spanking new team.

Yes the results havnt been too brill, what what did they expect. I had hopes that Ilmor could really be a mid pack contender by year end..........I guess not.

Maybe a sponsorship deal has fallen through and this is the underlying reason why they've quit?

Dorna should pull their heads out of their ....., they seem to be one making the HUGE profits from motogp - time to reinvest more.

Sucks for motogp overall, the more teams the better imo - we have a depleted enough grid as it is.

According to Italian news Ilmor could likely be out for good not just Jerez.

You know what, this lack of sponsorship .... is begining to pee me off. This is MotoGP! the pinnicle of Motorcycle, when will the big corps stop treating it like a local charity event for kids. And if Yamaha wants to leave then they should .... off! how in the blue hell can a team that pays Rossi 35million be struggling with sponsorship? they got the bloody money, there owned by Toyota. And Honda aswell, they dont friggin need sponsorship.

it goes back to the old saying "money sticks to money"

Have Yamaha and Honda announced sponsorship problems? As far as I know only bottom of the grid Ilmor and private custom entry Team KR have?

Honda Gresini arn't exactly running out of fairing space despite the tiny amount there is. They still have room for all those white stripey bits. The Dunlop Yamahas can't be that well funded by the tire company either. Kawasaki run factory colours. There is definately room for more sponsorship

Honda and Yamaha have not announced sponsorship problems this year so they must be fine - the fiat deal was sorted ages ago its just Fiat wanted Valentino to market their cars as well as just having the brand name on the bike.

Many of the teams could do with extra sponsors only Repsol Honda, Fiat Yamaha, Marlboro Ducati and Rizla Suzuki are probably able to balance the finances really as many teams don't have a title sponsor and like Kawasaki and Ilmor have plenty of room on the bike.

they wont last...........

It was bound to happen

Still, they will hopefully come back sometime into the season unless they're going to pull out for good which will be pointless!
