Personally. I'd sooner see Rossi go to Ducati

I don't think it's out of the question - Burgess didn't want to go to Yamaha but, like Rossi, I think he likes re-writing history and man would it do that if he took the Championship on a 3rd manufacturer

I'm going to say Rossi because he has made his point on the Yam and we really see the best from this bloke when he has a point to prove. Either change makes or go into another form of racing. Lorenzo has worked hard at yam and not yet had his reward. If he leaves now he will have all that work to do again. He is young enough to start again though and really needs and deserves to be a team #1 rider. I don't think Lorenzo is stupid enough to think he can jump on a different bike and win straight away like 07 stoner. This doesn't happen often. A bike change will normally cost at least a season.

You may be right with the history making theory, both Burgess and Rossi are going to go down in the history books and it will be a long time before some of their records are broken. I think another world championship on another make of bike would be great, although I don't think red and Rossi yellow will really go together. Who knows

Red is Marlboro colour's. Rossi doesn't want tobacco sponsor money. If Duc want rossi ,marlboro has to go so the red colour livery wont be a problem.
<

I understood why rossi had to have tobacco sponsorship with yam ,and while i accepted it i was outspoken against it. If rossi accepts tobacco sponsorship again i will no longer support him.

hah i dont think he cares too much about that.... i think he had said he wouldnt prefer to have a tobacco sponsor and that's normal but i dont think that it will be a problem.... probably that's the last thing he is thinking now about going to ducati. also red is not only marlboro's but ducati's colour too, and i think rossi's blue and yellow could easily change to black and red.

You'd have to think that 1000cc duc would look more tasty than what Valentino rode from Yamaha of a few years ago. Than again who do you think Yamaha would like to keep?

Red is also the main Ducati colour, and who's to say Rossi won't bring his own sponsors with him, he's done that before!

Yeah sure, so you think they would have stuck with red if repsol went to ducati when they were offering big bucks to lorenzo
<
They will go with the sponsors colour as their paying the money for it.

rossi....... for 1 reason only.... to see if he could take a championship on a 3rd mark... now that would be something special!

Interesting conversation Rog & Bonnie, do you guys also talk at the dinner table?
<

Rog, why wouldn't u support Rossi if he ran tobacco sponsor? What do you have against them? What about running alcohol sponsor?

Because he has said he is against tobacco sponsorship. He yielded against his own principles when he switched to yam. I'm sure you remember i was very out spoken against this as i don't like people who go against there principles. I always respected his stance on this issue and as i said i was un-impressed when he took the deal at yam but i understood why. He also acknowledged he was going against these principles at the time saying it way only a 2 year deal and never again to be repeated, thats why.

Rossi has never stated he is against Alcohol sponsorship so i have no issue with him taking such a deal !

Yes, but what is the diff between tobacco & alcohol? If he were against one in "principle" it would follow he would be against the other. They are both bad for you. It doesn't make sense. And both are restricted to be used by adults aware of the drug's consequences (both alcohol & tobacco have additive drugs). Its a bit like saying you are against heroin but PCP is ok. Confused.

Well how you or anyone else considers the dangers or immorality of various substances like alcohol or tobacco is a matter of opinion. My opinion of this has nothing to do with the statement i made about not supporting Rossi should he accept tobacco sponsorship again. I've supported rider's who do, but i respected Rossi for his stance against it. I forgave him for yielding once but i wont a second time. I respect people who stand by there principles. Had Rossi never mentioned this issue i wouldn't care, but he did and i agreed.

Nothing to do with Rossi or sport but smokers normally smoke all day and are hooked for life, most drinkers don't drink all day and are not addicted so i think there is a great difference. I don't know any smokers who only smoke now and again. This is just my personal opinion and observation which i dare say are shared by many. Proof of this is the amount of country's that prohibit tobacco advertising. I'm sure Alcohol will follow.

Brotha, both are very addictive, and once addicted you're ...... on cravings for life. Both dangerous for those around the addicted too. As somebody said, you can get drunk in an hour and kill innocent people out on the road, where as smoking is much different in that regard. These ad bans are suppose to be in part to protect kids from starting up smoking, I submit to you that teen drinking is infinitely more dangerous than teen smoking! I think its sometimes trendy and generally accepted to .... on tobacco companies because they are outnumbered by alcohol drinkers. Also, keep in mind, you don't have to be 'addicted' to alcohol in order to pose a serious and lethal danger to yourself or a person next to the drinker.

Got it brotha. I applaud your willingness to question your hero's stance on his principles. As I remember, you felt that Camel Yam's bad luck was partly and perhaps a mystical reminder to VR that your word as a man matters. I agree.

Just so you know (which I think you hold the same view) I'm not keen on these nanny laws that restrict people's choices. I'm not a smoker but I don't want their adult choice to be restricted. Yet, I am for protecting kids. I actually feel like the sugar intake kids are told to consume (cereals, candy, etc) in cartoon ads are much more detrimental to their early years of education.
