Ianonned to be suspended for doping

If they're predictable then the offenders can be prepared. Being always prepared in an upredictable testing environment isn't easy.

When such a mafia is running the Bussiness these things seems very suspicious.

For it to be fair all Pilots should be tested regularly.

I think Redding said that GP most likely likes it this was because we might get surprises if it was formal and regulated.

I'm positively pessimistic ahead of Iannone's published B sample. Feel free to flame me if I'm wrong. I doubt I will be. But I hope I am...

As expected, the B sample confirmed the result of the A sample.

Already the claim of accidental ingestion has been levied, but as we are talking about an injectable steroid that doesn't appear in nature, it holds no weight.

Most likely scenario is that Ianonne miss-calculated the half life of the compound or that the detecting sensitivity has improved for that particular substance (this is what happened with Stanazol and the reason for all the retrospective positives from the 2008 and 2012 Olympics. Up until 2016, the detection window was only 10 days from ingestion, then it jumped to 8 weeks with updated testing methods. The result, when any of the samples taken from the classic high risk sports were retested (weightlifting mainly) they all popped for Stanazol!)

He's looking at a 4 year ban!

If he can prove accidental ingestion, then they may reduce it to 2 years

Accidental ingestion! Ha. Goes with "I got the clap off a toilet seat."

It’s crazy that he is looking at a longer ban than guys get in combat sports.

The plot thickens...

We know that Ianonne has appealed his 18 month suspension, but today WADA have put in their own appeal - To have his suspension increased to 4 years.

Quite right really as the substance he had in his system is not found naturally in animals and is not used for meat rearing (it wouldn't be as it's a drug used for primarily cutting weight).

The defence that he eat some contaminated meat is laughable - It's been used once before for nandrolone, which is a synthetic steroid that does happen to occur in nature in uncastrated wild boar's testicles, but even that was suspect as the oral bioavailability of naturally occuring steriods is terrible (they would have had to eat several pairs of testicles and been tested the next day)

I decided to take the time to read a little around Iannone's situation. He was tested positive for drostanolone. It's not given via the oral route since virtually all of it is taken up and metabolised by the liver. It therefore needs to be injected. It's a synthetic steroid built for purpose, i.e., performance enhancement. Could he have gotten it from contaminated meat? That's a mighty stretch indeed since it would have to be a specific preparation that can be taken orally and why then would it be in contaminated meat??

My popcorn is out on this one. :nopity:
