Gotta admire King Juan Carlos and his attitude to his countrymens participation in motorcycle racing.
Can't imagine Obama doing this! .... ever!
Or the British Queen, or even PM
or Canada's PM
ok I can see our own PM Julia assisting Lauren Vickers in a bunny suit .......... but thats a personal thought better not aired .....
This guy is at many of the Spanish rounds, and keeps in touch with even the basest of "things GP" eg. he has been seen on the podium congratulating several pairs of riders in a manner of reconciliation ( Jorge and Pedro, then Pedro and Hayden )
Good on Spain they may have deserved last years good returns.
Now the real question from all this:
Did this admiration in high places create a good generation of riders?
How far does it go in Spain? Do they get good backing and encouragement ( real as in setting up of training and infrastructure ) at young ages?
Do some of the currently underachieving countries need to do the same? Get em young and get em ready?
