I looked everywhere but couldn't find an answer. If Jorge has 1 left, how many does Dani have? And if that 1 engine Jorge has blows up, what's the point penalty to get a 2nd engine?
Can someone tell me how this engine rule works please.?
each rider has 6 engines for the entire season.
for every additional engine change there's a penalty : starting from the pitlane
another question : i know dani has a completly unused (=unsealed?) engine. does that mean that honda can give him a completly new (in terms of specs) engine or heavily update it or do the 6 engines need to be roughly(or exactly) the same?
is there some sort of engine freeze like in f1 for next year?

Cheers dude!!
no problemo compadre
thanx for the info krop!
i was just wondering,i thought it'd be smart NOT to waste more money into 800cc development so a freeze would be the logical step.
so rossi gets 2 fresh engines eh....
any information on the nature of the update? of course it is impossible for me to know for sure (factors like electronics and mechanical grip playing key roles here) but judging from the corner exit speed it seems like the yamaha isn't down on torque and midrange power is it?if they sacrafice midrange punch for a higher power output at the top of the rev range i don't think it will be a step forward,it will only mask the shortcomings of the m1 engine on long straights....but i would unterstand that, it must be emberassing for yamaha to see the (soon-to-be) champ so easily passed on long straights, i guess thats something they don't want to see in the last few rounds

Getting passed by whom? Thats the clue my friend. Only person I've seen pass with a visible degree of difference is Pedrosa. But that's the same for every brand out there not just Yamaha. Dani weights next to nothing, I think we are making a bit too much out of Honda's supposed advantage. Put midget Dani on Lorenzo's bike and I bet people would start claiming his Yamaha would have an acceleration advantage. I'm not sure where this obsession comes from on top speed but Casey was well down on it at Aragon, but he beat Pedro with no problem.
i think you got me wrong, i agree that it is not only about topspeed and i'm very much aware of the fact that pedro weighs roughly the same as my 10 year old niece.but for most viewers all you see is that the number 1 honda is the fastest bike and to the average viewer that is what impresses you so i think its logical that each manufacturer strives to proof they can make the best engine.
To the average fan or viewer, you are right. Im getting me a CBR 1000RR, did you see how that thing motored past the R1. All about street cred. Then you get knowledgeable fan, like the ones here that understand what make s a great race bike. Unfortunately, there are many more casual viewers, than ones like us that live and breath this ..... When i used to go to AMA Superbike races, you would be hanging out on the fence, watching the races and you would here some of the most stupid comments. Some knothead would be spewing disinformation just because he saw it on a bike forum. For example " How fast you think they are going", his buddy says, i dont know, i heard that guy say around 190. ........, they have to be going faster than that, my R6 will run 200. I would just grin and say, yep, these guys are hitting 230-240 easy.
