Hi all,

Names James, live in Preston, Lancs, favorite rider is Casey Stoner, as I'm the press officer for Preston and District Motorcycle club, and Casey started racing with us, in the UK.

I'm a big fan of junior riders, as that's where the new talent comes from, keep your eyes open in the future, for a lad called Alex Gault, who is fast, and beat Caseys long standing lap record at three sisters, in 2005, and still holds it...

Anyhow, hello!

James

Hi James,

Welcome aboard

I'm sure I was just on your forum yesterday

You are right though, without new talent coming through and the support of people that organise races - what would the future hold?

Whats your thoughts on the general state of UK championships though? Is a lack of grass roots racing the reason why the UK isnt represented well in 125's, 250's & GP's? I mean, we've got Smith in 125's, Chaz isnt racing in 250's and James Ellison, who looks like being droped. We need more 125 riders to move through the ranks! - or do we not have the talent.

Anyway, enjoy the site as much as I'm enjoying yours

Yeah Ben, ur right, there just isn't enough talent making it's way through, Ive seen a lot of very fast youngsters, but they don't just have the injection of cash available, the talent is there, its just the money side, and getting noticed, for instance, if you take the red bull rookies, Alex went out to Valencia to have a go at it, as it was an opportuntiy, and he might as well have saved the cash, it cost 1500 quid to get out there and enter, and what they were really after was another Danni pedrosa, all the spanish riders had had a week testing on the bike, and, knew the circuit, Alex arrives, at a unknown track, and unknown bike, and no testing or practise, got something like 7 laps - how the hell is that ever going to work??? 7 laps wouldn't be enough for Rossi to get to know a bike and track, let alone a scottish 15yr old lad!

I love the idea of the R6 cup, apart from the fact that the Aussies tried to take it over (Wont be happening again LOL) and there are now, 2 other 1 make series being with the ACU, the GSXR cup, and the Triumph 675 Triple series, which are cheaper to enter than the R6 cup - I know we hear Keith saying that the R6 cup is a bargain, the truth is, it costs around 40K, (practise bike, travelling etc) including the 18K entry fee, GSXR cup, Alex reckons ur looking at 30-35K.

the crux of it is, even if you have tons of talent, unless ur either very lucky or, have a lot of sponsors or, very rich parents, it's a very tough game to get thru the ranks, and get noticed.

Oh and thx for the comment about my site, appreciate it

Hi James,

welcome to the forum !
I'm also new here and still trying to find out how everything works here.

You're right about the new drivers I also love to see how they do.

I think that one of the most promissing drivers for the future will be the uk kid Bradley Smith !
He has done really well in his first year in the 125 class.

Hi,

Yeah, bradley's doing very well for a lad that's never ridden on any of these circuits before, and although he has had a few DNF's, i think he will progress thru and onward as long as he has the backing
