Seriously... my take on this quote is not that Melandri is doubting Rossi's capabilities, but rather that he
doubts whether Ducati will be able to wrap their heads around making a bike that is sufficiently
Yamaha-like for Rossi to compete on; especially doubtful that they will be able to pull it off between
now and Qatar. That's a lot to ask in terms of R&D time and the time need to actually fabricate any
new designs. It's pretty clear at this point that the Duc needs a .... load more than just "tweaking".
It needs serious rethinking and structural alteration. None of this (assuming they can pull it off)
will be cheap. It's the frame engineering equivalent of an overnight special. And to top it off - we're
talking about a bike that will only be around for the final year of the 800 era.
