Hayden post race body language

Did anyone else notice the body language from Nicky in the pit shed after Laguna, where Rossi was in the background and noticed Nicky had a camera on him so he promptly rushed over on cue. Whenever there is a chance of showing that he,s the bigger man on camera and apologising for his actions on the track, he jumps at the chance of being on air.

The wet race earlier this season who can forget when he dived in too hot (in the rain !) under Casey whilst riding a bike that is notorious for (in the rain !) lack of front end grip ?? (in the rain) Then bravely telling a camera man to follow him to Repsol pits whilst couragously still wearing his helmet to say sorry for being a di#& head.

Laguna 2008 battling with Casey who was riding a bike that only went in a straight line, and due to same problem as current day, lacked front end feel so didnt turn or brake late either, Vale was on the best engineered bike in the paddock (again) and couldn't shake Stoner, so resorted to dirty tactics like brake checking, and once again post race, turns and sees Casey on camera and rushes over to take the lime light but Casey shut him down.

Last year whilst on the #1 prepared bike getting his butt kicked repeatedly by his young team mate and whilst being passed by the quicker Jorge nearly putting him into the grandstand.

Who can forget when he said the problem with Ducati is Casey doesn't work hard enough or didnt put in the hard yards needed !!!

Well at Laguna last week Nicky got a special cuddle from Rossi (which created a little jealousy in the background from Vales "special friend" !) you guessed it, this affection was to say sorry again and make Nicky feel warm and fuzzy inside. But it had the opposite effect, with Nicky saying, you owe me mate, next time its my turn ! And turning away from Vale he rolls his eyes and shakes his head twice before sitting, as if to say, ya ...... !

I may be mistaken but the room full of people i viewed it with all said they saw the same volatile reaction from Nicky towards the great one.

Will this be the last time Vale upsets someone on track giving reason to hunt them down (only if camera is nearby) and apologise for his shortcomings ? I think not..

Is this karma coming around to him for his ways in the past ? Perhaps...

One things for sure Nicky was definately not pleased with the great one at completion of race....

Cheers

I think this was already cleared up, it was a playful joke according to Alex Briggs. God knows the truth. I got the same impression too, but wasn't sure what to make of it. But for now I'll accept it was just a playful exchange. Maybe Kropo can shed some light. He's managed to read minds between the lines before...

I don't think Nicky would be defending him like he was in a post race gpone article if he had a problem with him. And now that Rossi had a crappy ride at his home race he is the perfect one to console his teammate.

Read for yourself what Hayden had to say:

He's just really pissed off to be so far back at his home race. He's never finished so far down the order.

Thanks. After reading post race interviews, it became clear he was frustrated to finish so low. He didn't have an issue with Rossi, I think both riders are frustrated actually. I admit, it was my initial reaction reading the body language that something might be up, but I'll take him at his word and not read to much into it. I mean, as a blind apologetic fan, I'd say he did pretty good considering he was on an "aliens" ... the entire race, right Kropo?

He did good, all things considered. Hard to say what Hayden's level is: after the title, he spent a couple of years on the Honda when it was still not much cop, then he moved to Ducati, and we know how good that is.

On the other hand, Hayden was on the bike he's been riding for the past 3 years, while Rossi was on the bike he's only been using for four races.

Agree, but in Dovi's rookie year Nicky came off second best despite a machinary advantage, so although i'd expect Nicky to be a lot closer to the front on a better bike, i don't think it would translate to more than 1 or 2 positions in the classification at the end of the year, if that. I think he'd have plenty more podiums and legitimate shot at a shaken up race win though, he doesn't get that luxury now.

Either way Nicky must be frustrated with how tihngs have been going for a while now, he must be hanging on to his ride in the hope that the 1000's give his career a second wind, if they don't i think WSBK is the place to be, then maybe over the UK to wind down before retiring (in my dreams)

Nah, man, you know he aint going BSB dude. I mean, he already is an AMA Sbk champ, why would he b going to a lessor national series?

to complete the set.. Sureley all ex world champs want to finish their career on narrow, bumpy, dangerous courses covered in rain...

thanks for that, now I wont get those 2 minutes of my life it took to read that crap back.....

Pretty negative start to the thread but sense soon came into it. Can't blame either ducati rider for being unhappy as both are not where they could be.

I'll second that:

Gumbo's probably got a poster - "the greatest villains of ALL time"

Attilla the Hun

Adolf Hitler

Valentino Rossi

or is it

Jack the Ripper

Mr Hyde

Valentino Rossi

One things for sure the other 2 are always interchangeable, but for Gumbo - Rossi's always going to be on the bad guy list

Yea, Gumby turned the sarcasm up to 11, but his points about Rossi playing to the camera whenever possible are spot-on. They guy would make a great politician...

I went back and watched the post race Nicki/Valentino thing and yes there is a distinct eye roll and head shake.

Okay - Rossi does play it up for the camera

Edwards - Rossi's old team mate always has pushed the "all about Vale" barrow.

Yes - the races occur in a parallel universe. I saw a great race where Stoner won, however Talpa and his ilk saw a pathetic race where Stoner won.

Nicki does call it as he sees it most of the time but he is loyal to his teams. He would never bag the Ducati like Valentino has. Or his team mate.

Maybe that loyalty accounts for his post race interview. Truly it was in ambivalent equivocal sort of interview (He doesn't say he was happy, or sad, or pissed or pleased).

But I still can't, despite my desire to, attribute the eye roll and head shake to the relationship between Valentino and Nicki.

But dammit there was something there... (I love an ellipsis - dammit where is Fred the King of the ellipsis?)

I think Nicky's interview translates his frustrations very well. His and Valentino's fight for 6th really doesn't mean .... when the winner is 30 seconds ahead of you. Ducati can put Jesus on the Gp11 and he'd probably still finish 20 seconds behind Race winner! Id like to see a Troy Bayliss wild card, I read in a recent article where he speaks of Bicycling almost 500 miles a week and staying fit for racing and how much he misses it.

Good point but i think Vale would stomp his feet and do everything in his power to stop old man Bayliss from showing him up...

But i'm now confused according to Talpa and all others who carry a photo of Vale folded up in their man purses, Vale is Jesus !!! Lol
