Hayden baffled by dismal race

Go back to '03 or '04 that is the last time Nicky ever rode his own style. He has tamed his tail-flailing ways immeasurably. Kind of a shame, imo.

he showed us some loose sideways action today, most would have shut the throttle but nicky kept on the gas, fantastic riding imo.

Now I'm baffled. Where did his spine come from suddenly?

Shut the throttle on a 200HP plus motorcycle halfway through a slide and you will have a big highside.

Not from a nice controlled slide like that. The sideway speed is to slow so the force on the suspension would only give him a small kick, nothing more.

Used to believe that Nicky was getting hard done by but now I just think he's crap. His teammate dominated today and he was no where from a front row start.

I didn't see the slide, do you have a link?

Nicky did get hard done by HRC, but when he does get what he wants or needs he still can't deliver week in and out. The sport has moved on to the next level of technologies and rider ability is required, but Nicky has failed to make the adapt and adjust to the next level. He should move to World SuperBike as Bayliss replacement, and likely succeed.

His big ego won't allow himself to go down to a lower level.

Fair go.
He is about the most humble level headed guy on the grid.

Was there a particular slide?
From any but the most extreme slides that are controlled by power there won't be much of a problem.
Remember, you don't have the sideways movement as with an uncontrolled slide on it's way out that add force to the suspension when the tire grip, you only have the missalignment to handle. A far easier job for the suspension and also handeled better by a rider in balance as oposed to when the bike disapear sidways under him.

Dude, are you talking about Nicky Hayden? Ego?

Haha, you have just placed yourself on the Everything-This-Guy-Says-From-Now-On-Is-Stupid list. Thanks for making my reading on the threads a bit easier now that I will be skipping your dumb ... .....

The only thing moved is the narrow focus for rider suitability. He was doing just fine when the bikes were suited for men. Now its become the top step of a 250 feeder series. Throw some of these guys into superbikes and they become foder. Its a different ball game, I'll give you that, but your hate for one man clouds your ability to see the rules of the game have changed for the advantage of the series itself. Lets put the current grid on 125 and see who comes out on top, would this be a fair assessment of who is the best rider? We now have a situation where standard superbikes are faster and have more horsepower than what is suppose to be the pinnacle of the sport. So then what makes it so? You think Pedrosa is a good rider, well hes done what Hayden was doing in 06, that is; being on the podium consistently and wining a couple of races along the way. You just like to .... on Hayden as your pass time but have NO reasonable substance to your posts.

But it took you all the way to his Hayden comment to find out THAT?

I think Pedrosa is a good rider, but crap close contact racer.

And I don't think Dani is doing what Nicky did in 06. Dani is having to 'fight' a strong/healthy/happy/bridgestoned/non-faulty yamaha riding Rossi, as well as ducati mastering Stoner and an incredible rookie Lorenzo. In short, Dani has to actually be great and consistent to win this year's title, since winning 2 races being on podium consistently and very very lucky is not enough at this year's championship level.

My 'pass time' is starting to become boring actually as Nicky's downward slide gets more pathetic and sad.....but as he is a former world champion we still have to hold him to a higher standard....IMO.

Do you not hold him to a higher standard or quality?

I think Nicky spends too much time making commercials, advetising the indy track ect, whilst other riders are relaxing between races, he's jetting up and down USA working!
No wonder he's slipping backwards.
