Hayden baffled by dismal race

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Eagle088 @ Jun 4 2008, 11:50 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>I was talking to a friend of Nicky's yesterday that I use to race CMRA with and he said that Nicky was protecting someone. They know what the problem was but Nicky does not want to point the finger at anyone through the media so he kept his mouth shut.
and imo that the professional thing to do.

It seems to be common knowledge in the paddock that Nicky will be replaced next year.
He's riding a bike that does not suit him.
It's a bike that only Pedrosa has shown success on.
Honda refuses to give him the pneumatic but they'll give it to Pedrosa who might not want it because he's doing fine without it. If Pedrosa won't use it than they won't give it to Nicky.

What the hell is that?
Why the .... should Nicky care what happens from here on out.
I think he's had it with HRC and decided he's not going override the bike and possibly hurt himself.
Bring on Ducati screw HRC.

nicky my man...as a fan it is hard for me to say this.... but it's time to let it die.
whoever posted the bit about the 800s not having enough grunt for his riding style, and the 990s having too much for stoner was spot on. however there are riders on the grid that can adapt to either style and still do quite well, and in my mind they are the ones that need to be on the grid

i'm sure AMA would be thrilled to have him back, or WSBK for that matter

not enough grunt?? hahhaha so 150+hp atw is not enough to even do a wheelie i heard coz the tc restricts a 800 doing sheelies.

that why we havent seen a wheeling for a while now

But if that is the case, he should man up and show Repsol for 'what they are', if that even is the case. He's just making himself look like Honda's ..... more and more every day.

I agree, but this is bike racing, not some mega-evil conspiracy. The world wouldn't be rocked by Nicky saying "I'm number 2 in this team".

And he's a racer, he's probably trying to find excuses to excuse how he's riding. He's not going to say to his mates "Listen ya'll, I'm just not fast enough to stay with these new guys on these new bikes".

A rider like Nicky Hayden wouldn't just 'not try' simply because he's not having it all his own way, he'll still be doing 100%. It just for some reason or another isn't working. Plus, he has to try his best for the team and for himself to land a Ducati ride...

I think you might be onto something there. We all know Hayden is very team minded with HRC and is quite obedient to their demands, but i very much doubt he would allow (contractually or otherwise) his reputation to be destroyed by HRC for no personal benefit. I just don't believe Nicky would bend over and carry all these conspiracies.

i'm a fan of nicks... but this is funny!

If Nicky starts talking .... in the press what do you think possible future employers are going to think about him. Sponsors dont really like riders that are going to slam their team and possibly their product by association. I also know that Nicky is real big on being a positive guy. Kind of that positivity breeds positive things mindset. The mugello race has for Nicky was similar to how the season has gone for Marco, the bike is having problems and the rider can not ride through them.

I dont know what Nicky or Marco are dealing with, but I know from my experience that there are certain kinds of problems that a rider can ride around and some problems that no matter what cant be ridden around. Nicky is a guy in a unique position because his ability to either point and shoot or ride smooth and higher conerspeed will allow him to ride around more problems than a lot of riders. But some problems are almost like cutting your legs out from under you. Not to mention, .... happens some times in the middle of races or whenever that makes any adjustment too late. Who knows, a tuning screw could have fell out of his rear shock because some mechanic forgot to safety wire it and it would not stay without the wire.

Marco's problem seems to be completely engine management issues.

I think you mean the rider is having problems with the bike. Knowing the problems Nicky (and marco) are having can definitely be overcome probably just makes it worse for them.

The Ducati is a dog, it only suits Stoners style best (and thats not by much)

Theres no excuses for Nicky really, he doesn't have the experience of riding 250cc world championship bikes.

and hes not trying to change his riding style...

well i think its a shame when riders have tio change there style to suit a new bike. they should build the bike to suit the riders style. how can a rider stay fast when he has to change everything that got him to where he is. i think he would be better off changing bike than style but im not sure ducati is the right choice. fiat yamaha build a third bike for hayden would be cool
