Guess who gets to test the 08 R1

OK, well I signed a nondisclosure contract and I would like to keep my word if I would like to do this type of thing ever again. However, I will tell you what I can very carefully.

I spent a day and a half on this new 09 R1 racer, so there are some parts on this bike that are far from stock.

Some great power
Makes wonderful lap times
Accommodating suspension
Likes aggressive riders
London chicks suck

That may be all I can say at the moment. They were very strict about the camera rule, so sorry no pics. I have a couple more days this week but I know I did about 120 laps this time and I hope I gave some valuable feedback. I will let you guys know what the next few days consist of.

cheers

This all rings true, and I'd never doubt what your saying Eagle for a minute...but for a brief second, the words smell and rat spring to mind.

I have plenty of photos from London if you want those. I think all the manufacturers would rather keep their new bikes under lock and key before they are released to the public. The deal is that I am not a Yamaha employee so I could potentially have trade secrets I am guessing or something. They may just be covering their ...... Besides, it is just a bare bones bike with no graphix just flat black plastics.

Are you able to say if it's a completely revised model, unlike the 07-08 evolution from the 04-06?

Has the shape changed, has the exhaust layout changed, etc?

Things are different, but if you will look closely to my first post yesterday I think it will tell you more than what it seems to say. Look closely.

Randy Mamola made a comment about the 2009 R1 in MotoGP FP2 today, he said he's heard it's going to have some trick bits and they're trying to make it as small as the current R6. If this is true, it's going to be a missile. It could be the bike to get my off my 04 R1.

I do not mean to diss your city all you Londonites but Jesus, cant we give some gym memberships away to a few chicks in that town.

Trav, you were looking at the wrong post. Anyway, sorry I have not gotten back to you guys. I am still around London though. The last time I got on the bike was for promotional stuff though. They took a lot of pictures and video, but I dont know what they are going to do with it. Probably nothing but I did meet Haga the other day. He really did not seemed to interested in talking to me though. He was not rude or anything just not real talkative. Sorry about not getting any pictures or anything. I didnt want to upset the system seeing as how I was just overwhelmed with excitement that I got the opportunity I dont want to do anything to .... it up.

Sorry this thread has probably been a big disappointment but exciting for me.

YOU LIE, I still don't believe you! Just kidding. Awesome opportunity, thanks for sharing. But I gotta ask, why do London chicks suck? Literally or figuratively?

So,
Thanks for the update(s)
I think we're all excited about the new model.
Lately it seems that the CBR and ZX
Left behind some distinctive design elements.

Ultimately, I think we're all here cuz we love bikes.
No doubt about that.
Don't know why else anybody would check out this forum.
Except maybe to troll, but there's plenty of
Reasonable posters, as well.
So, on to the 09 R1...
Excellent that you got to check it out
Although a lot of us have questions about certain
Telltale design decisions between the 08 and 09 model.

Please,
I'd like to know more.
Perhaps you could expand.
Excusing, of course, anything you can't say.

Pursuing this line of thought,
Let's hear anything you might have to say about the bike.
Anything.
Curiosity is killing me, so any
Explanation is appreciated.
Maybe things have changed from the previous model, for
Example, well, I'll let you tell us.
Not sure what you can or can't say.
Thanks.
?

Thanks for any info you may be able to help with.

The new R1 is released today on their website. I think it is a big let down as far as looks and what the bike was presumed to look like. Of what was seen in previous articles especially the one with MCN doing their best to make a guess I would of rather had their guess come to fruition than the bike we now see. I am sure it will perform well but they missed the boat on overall looks and design.

Ya I just checked it out not much of a looker

Wait till you ride one!!! Who cares what the thing looks like, bottom line is that it is a runner.

Seriously.

I'm definitely wondering why they kept the underseat exhaust considering the current wisdom is mass centralization.

I'm also very curious as to how it stacks up against the 09CBR since they seem the be the first of the nextgen bikes.

YEah I am sure it runs well and all but your right where I am. I thought this thing was going to be an all out killer looking thing to boot but I guess I was wrong. Dang that pic that MCN had on it that looked a bit like the gp bike would have made me think a bit but this thing looks pretty gay.

I am sure it is but firstly i am not a yamaha fan. Secondly if I were to ever consider one it would have to look better than a Ducati which in most cases regarding Jap bikes FOR ME that will never happen. Glad you like it eagle. Very cool you got the chance to test it.
