I got a call yesterday that Yamaha Japan wants me to come over to Europe to test the 2008 R1. I dont know if I will be on the race bike of the street bike yet. I leave on Friday morning so I will let you guys know how its going.

Yeah, they called me to test as well. I'm not going to be able to make it b/c I have some important dentist's appointments next week, so I gave them your number.

I think the deal is that all there racers and usual test riders are either racing or working on other projects. I have a friend that has been a test rider for them for a while and I am sure that is how I got in on this. Honestly, I would not be surprised if this is just a photo shoot or something. The bike must be too close to introduction to make any serious changes and even if it were for engineering proposes I am sure they would run it through their normal staff before relying on my input. Who knows. I am just pumped to get to see the new bike and get to Europe for a few weeks. I will let you guys know what the new bike is like as soon as I can.

Yeah....2008.....time warp.....no, wait.......maybe he'll get a shot at the 2009...
I just hope it does not resemble an R6 on steroids.....the R1 is still the sharpest looker of a literbike out there...

I have seen some sort of pics and it looks cool. THe Ducati is better though.

There are a lot of Photoshop versions of the 2009 R1 doing the rounds. If the real thing is a new generation R1 and is any good, it could tempt my away from my 04 R1. I don't like what they've done with the tail piece and exhausts on the 07 and 08, it's only a subtle change from the 04-06 but enough to put me off it despite the technological advances.

Yeah, sorry I meant the 09 R1. My apologies. Well, its 3 A.M. in Oklahoma and I am about to head to the airport. I had to wake up so early so that I could maybe sleep on the flight and avoid the lag once I get over there. I will try to keep you guys updated with pictures and stuff throughout the next 5 weeks. Ya dose'nt surprise me but thought it was worth posting coz its the only pic I've seen. The back end looks too much like the Mv, if it dose come out looking similar to that pic I'll be keeping my '04 for another while, I almost bought the new blade this year but I cant stand the nose, really nice bike to ride but lacks character and aggression

I'll stick to my '99 - as God intended it - the original and the maddest. (Although I'm not for one minute suggesting that it I'd turn down an offer to be flown over to Japan to ride the '09 version..it's just sour grapes on my part)
Well, I have spent the entire day in London and I have to say that London has the least amount of talent I have ever seen in a major city. I do not mean to diss your city all you Londonites but Jesus, cant we give some gym memberships away to a few chicks in that town.
