But there could be one plausible objective: to ascertain whether the Ducati 800 is really so peculiar to ride that only Stoner can take it to the limit.

If Gibe happens to be faster than Melandri on the GP8, I have no doubt they'll invite Macho (and the others) to leave. The whole story reminds me of the time Cagiva invited Kenny Roberts to test their (apparently ......) bike.

Agree.

The header says, he will decide after the test if his status remains "retired" or not. The rest ... can't bother translating now, learn Spanish if you want to know what he says!

Here is a translation:

"Then I decide whether retired or switch back"

Sete travel very determined to Mugello: "My first opponent will be me, not even Guareschi, which share test, and finish where happy, at home or on the track again"

So again climb to the Ducati year and a half after its withdrawal. What has led him to make this decision?

I have been bundled and I've stopped rolling. I swear that when I went last weekend to Montmeló to see the grand prize I did as a tourist, but I received very well, I opened many doors and I was proud of it.

Did you caught by surprise then the offer?

He had already heard some rumours earlier in this regard, those who had not given much credit. She knew she wanted to prove his Ducati motorcycle and had discussed the possibility to do so Troy Bayliss and Max Biaggi, but in the end what I am going to do next week in Mugello.

What made you accept after how difficult it was decided by the withdrawal, at the end of the 2006 season?

After being stopped almost two years, I awoke gusanillo watching the pilots in action in Montmeló proposal for Ducati and me has come at a good moment for me. I am a person who is moved by impulses and now I have had it. The motorcycles have been my life and passion I have not lost in time that I have been away from racing. The heart beats me forcefully when I see. This possibility makes me happy and is a gift that makes me Ducati.

Is it the prelude to his return to competition?

For the moment let me climb again and that is a source of pride. Ducati wants the test and then we'll see what happens. I got on the bike this year and the next, GP9, to see sensations. I will not believe the evidence in anything special, just to see where I am.

Are references to give rise to Ducati or you examined before a possible return?

Ducati to bring everything I can in those three days of workouts, but they are aware that took two years for. I do not think that depend on me to advance its project. What I want is to enjoy this opportunity offered to me and Thursday, when complete evidence, just decided not to climb to a MotoGP and never stay home or I am looking for a team to return.

Could replace Melandri leaving either the experience? The Italian is signing a horrific years with the Ducati ...

Not justiciero come as no man or a bad place to stop any pilot. I feel much respect for the work of Melandri, who now does not leave things, but you try, and by that of Stoner, who enchufó lot last year and nobody has given anything. What comes after these three days of evidence do not know yet. It can be a hello and goodbye or else. I say that I already decided by impulses.

Will this very records that pilots marked MotoGP in Mugello two weeks ago?

I will be the first to be set at the stopwatch, but much respect to the current MotoGP pilots. In Montmeló, walking track, I was impressed by the strong pace that lead. It makes me really excited to do so. I have opened many doors and projects, because there is also some interest Kawasaki. This test I am not linked to anyone, but means that something good must be done in my time at Ducati and put my grain of sand to its 800 outside competitive.

They tell me he had the opportunity to run some races in 2007 as a tester of HRC.

We talked about it, but doing the whole championship. Then they twisted history.

Have 35 years. Would you that creates some doubt?

The years pass and you say to all that much respect to the grill, but I'm afraid not. We'll see where I am. My first opponent will be me, not even Guareschi, which share track, and finishing where I made happy, at home or on the track again.

I think it's great for Ducati to get him to testride. It is good publicity and is saying to all the fans and press that they are doing something.
It is probarbly every racing factorys dream to have a known fast rider who really can push the bike as a testrider.Guareshi is probarbly great,Aioki at Honda too but Sete could probarbly go close enough or maybe only 1 sec.from Stoners laptimes and that would sure help Ducati.
And he has tried it before, and he is good at telling technicians what needs to be done.
It would be interresting if some laptimes would be official, but i doubt that will be the case.

I'm bored at work today ...

So you will ride the Ducati one and a half years after your retirement, What made you take this decision?

They talked me into it, I swear that when I went to Montmelo last weekend to see the GP I did it as a tourist, but they welcomed me warmly, offered many options to me and I felt very proud of that.

So did the offer caught you by surprise?
I had already heard some rumours about this in the past, which I didn't give much credit. I knew Ducati wanted someone to test their bike, and the possibility of Troy Bayliss and Max Biaggi had already been mentioned, but finally I will do it next week, at Mugello.

What made you accept this offer considering how hard it was for you to choose retirement at the end of the 2006 season?

After being almost 2 years without riding, the need to ride woke up in me while watching the riders in action at Montmelo and the Ducati offer arriced at a good moment for me. I'm a man that makes decisions impulsively and now I had this one. Bikes have been my life and I haven't lost the passion in the time I've been out. My heart beats fast when I see them. This chance makes me happy and it's a gift Ducati makes to me.

Is this the previous step to returning to competition?
So far they let me test once and that is already something to feel proud. Ducati wants me to test it and we'll see what happens next. I'll try this year's bike and next years, the GP9, to get a feeling on them. I wont be focusing on anything in particular, just to see where I stand.

Will you test to give info to Ducati or to test yourself considering a possible return to racing?

I will try to give Ducati as much as I can in those 3 days, but they are aware I've been 2 years out. I don't think they depend on me to develop their proyect. What I want is to enjoy this unique oportunity and on thursday when the test is over, maybe I decide never to ride a MotoGP again and stay at home or ... I start looking for a team to return.

Could you replace Melandri if the test goes well? The Italian is having a nightmare season with the Ducati ...

I'm not coming to judge anyone nor to make anyone look bad. I respect Melandri's work very much, now things are not working for him, but he tries, also Stoner's, he "gave it a handful" last year and no one gave him nothing for free. Whatever comes after the 3 days of test I don't know yet. It might be a hello and good bye or something more. I told you I'm impulsive.

Will you take into account the times set by the other MotoGP riders in Mugello 2 weeks ago?

I will be the first one to pay attention to the stopwatch, but I respect very much the current riders. At Montmelo, next to the track, it impressed me how fast was their pace. I'm looking forward to do this. There's various options available to me, because there's also interest from Kawasaki. This test doesn't restrict me to Ducati, but it means I must have done something good at my time at Ducati I did my part for the 800cc to be competitive.

I've been told you had the possibility to race in 2007 some races as a test rider for HRC...

It was discussed (with HRC), but doing the whole season. After it didn't work out.

You're 35 y old, Does it make you doubt yourself?

Years go by for everyone and I already told you I respect much the current field, but I'm not afraid. We'll see where I stand. My first rival will be myself, not even Guareschi, whith whom I'll share the track. And I'll end up wherever I'm happy, back on the racetrack or at home.

Oh and Curve thanks for giving us a link to the article this time, as you know the plagarism cops like to patrol here.

i wonder if gibernau thinks that he has broken rossis' curse by retiring and then returning?
is that all you have to do to start winning races again?

That's quite a good laptime from only 20 laps i would say,and there probarbly is alot of things to dial in. So i hope there will be dry weather the rest of the days at Mugello, then maybe he can cut a few seconds off that time.
It would be interresting if he got a wildcard

yeah ya know if he does wind up with a wildcard for ducati it would be really fun to see if he can beat marco to the line. I think right now he would be able to since Marco can't possibly have any confidence left.
