Sete Gibernau will take over Marco Melandri's ride on the Marlboro Ducati for the remaining seven MotoGP rounds of the year from the Czech Republic event on August 17, but may race in the Alice Ducati satellite squad in 2009.

The vacant Marlboro Ducati seat for '09 could be taken by Nicky Hayden, who would abandon his Repsol Honda livery to join the Italians.

These are the latest suggestions to float in the MotoGP paddock as negotiations regarding next year's line-ups increase in pace before the series' summer break after the US Grand Prix at Laguna Seca on July 20.

Dunno about that Alice ride in 2009... and Loris has been confirmed for 2009.

The bikes will have special zimmer frames fitted as stock

I for one am looking forward to seeing Sete back in the seat. Hopefully he can come in and make some hay. There are a lot of seats that are up for grabs if not He should go to WSBK!!

1) a possible empty seat at Suzuki - (Spies get the seat for '09) He's not going back to Suzook.
2) Kawasaki - We know that Ant West is gone - The bike sucks.....
3)Gresini - Dovi's seat is looking pretty good/DePuniet may be gone as well. (He is too heavy and won't get any results.
4) Possible Satellite Ducati (back of the pack for you Sete) about as good a Kawasaki.
5) Tech 3(CEII dude....it seems like you have 10 lives)- not! If you can get it... YOUR BEST SHOT!

I for one thinks that Sete, if he doesn't get the Factory Ducati for '09, Gresini w/Melandri is his only real option.
I don't see the Satellite Ducati's doing anything anytime soon. I don't see any other Teams worth going to other than Tech3.

I think Ducati will appreciate how Hayden rides a bit more than Honda do.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>Nicky had one great moment this morning. On a fast lap and enjoying himself sliding the bike at full lean in a fast left hander he went inside Valentino, who was touring on an out-lap so Nick spun up the rear and and laid some smoke. The camera cut to the Ducati pit, catching Casey grinning under his visor and his mechanics laughing and applauding.

You can still have fun at MotoGP.

Kallio is also in talks with Ducati, I presume for the Alice ride?
Other rumors suggest Martinez will bring Bautista up and is also in talks with Ducati.
The grid is shrinking. Suzuki & Kawasaki need to do more to contribute to the numbers.
