FINALLY CONFIRMED! Andrea Dovisioso signs for Ducati

but how come both dovi and crutch were eager to leave the team to join ducati?

sure the tech3 is a great bike to be on if you're gunning for podiums, probably the best non factory ride and a good stepping stone to a factory yam ride. but if you're really hoping for wins it just isn't a better option than any factory seat.

i don't see how an established rider with real championship ambitions would choose a lowly paid tech3 seat over any factory seat in the longterm

Thanks Cliche for the helpful comment, Well the reasons I'm so careful about what I write are:

1) I'm following this sport from 2010, so in comparison to a lot of guys here I'm not that experienced.

2) English is my second language and I have difficulties saying my words the right way

But again Thanks

no problem mate

how long you have followed is really secondary, there are many that have watched for many years and don't keep a real open eye on the action.

don't worry about your english.

you can speak iranian AND english .lots of people here don't have any second language and can't even speak english well

as far as riding style its always difficult to tell, these guys are so good that they do whatever it takes to be as fast as possible.

i could be wrong, but i don't remember pedrosa pulling the bike up everywhere in 250s, that would be proof of him being able to adapt if necessary.not really 125/250 style the way he rides

what would make me worry concerning pedrosa on the duc not being as good as stoner is his stature,if rossi has problems to get heat into the front tyre under hard braking i would expect pedrosa to have nightmares before every corner. then again , come apex and he picks it up,he'd most likely shatter all speed records.

it will be interesting to see dovi on the duc, if the bikes anything like it was the past few years he should be forced to rely less on wide ,fast lines but more on hard braking and shooting the bike out of the corner.but of course thats just my spectator guess

I have a feeling (which is similar to an opinion) that Dovi might just be making the switch at the right time.

Ducati have spent the last 2 years getting thrown under the bus, rightly or wrongly. They have a new owner who is making all the right noises that they are serious about changing Ducati's fortunes. Perhaps for the first time there will be engineering oversight of Prezosi and his engineering team. Holding on to ideology that has failed for all but one is highly likely to not be tolerated.

Dovi has in the last 2 seasons ridden the championship winning Honda and then a very well sorted Yamaha. Therefore he has recent knowledge of the 2 philosophies that are currently the bench mark. He has shown an adaptable nature and ability to take advantage of either styles dictated by these 2 different philosophies.

Ducati/Audi are quite likely to take their feedback cues from Dovi on the back of this recent experience with Hayden used as a confirmation tool on whether the direction of development is positive.

All things considered, if the momentum swings in the right direction, which I feel/opinion it will Dovi could be at the right time and place to really capitalise with some race podiums/wins and create his own legacy that potentially was never going to be afforded to him had his path continued on the constantly overlooked direction that it was. I don't think we will ever see a MotoGP championship beside his name but as I have suggested before, championships are not everyones PRIMARY goal.

I for one hope that at last Dovi can get some kudos for the talent he is.

The Ducati seat is valuable because it's a factory bike and should continue to evolve (however it hasn't this year!). First year of the 1000cc and the difference between satellite and factory machinery isn't that great. Next year's factory bikes will have a larger division from the satellite offerings. Just as previous posters have mentioned, you can contend for the occasional podium but a championship would be un-attainable from the satellite garage.

When you're making X million a year and, in Dovi's case, are already set for life, the absolute size of your check starts to become somewhat irrelevant. Given the option, I'd much rather ride a T3 for 2~3 Mil than the Duc for 5.

Maybe Krop can lend a hand on this subject, but i dont beleive Tech 3 pays anywhere near 2-3 million to its riders. And i dont think Duc will pay Dovi anywhere near 5 million. I would guess Ducati would pay Dovi 2-3 million at the moment. Thats the shame i was talking about, Dorna has the sport set up where a handfull of people run off with all the money. If Carmelo wants to subsidize something, start helping, or forcing satellite teams to pay their ....... riders.

i also think dovi did well to join ducati..

i believe the ducati bike has changed a lot from how it was in past years, and now with the involvement of audi means it can change even more.. and faster

you need a factory bike to win, the tech3 bike is good enough only for 3rd place finishes, and also you get less money (but anyway its too much, we re talking about millions)

i think its good for him, he can do better than rossi and even if he doesnt, noone will blame him

All this talk about forward momentum and Ducati actually constructively realizing any changes based on rider input reminds me of the shitload of wishful thinking (mine included) that accompanied the announcement that Nicky had signed way back when. Unless Audi somehow grabs the reins to force dramatic changes - Ducati will continue to plod along dicking around with the same lack of innovative thinking that's held them back for years. It's like expecting Albert the donkey to turn into Seabiscuit. Don't hold your breath boys and ......

In my opinion one of Ducati's main problem is the long time they need to answer riders need. Stoner had this problem saying he was not getting the updates he wanted right at the time and by the time he had the updates Honda and Yamaha had given Pedrosa, Rossi and Lorenzo every thing they wanted plus some more extra updates for the next season or something. I hope with the influence of Audi and Germans, The Italian team gets the discipline needed to be competitive around the Japanese factories.

Dovi can’t and never will ride the Duke like Stoner did!!! Please Ducati give UP and STOP getting Ities to ride or win on the Ducati’s!!! they are a waste of space and energy!!! Get Mr Stoner and then you will WIN RACES AND HAVE A CHANCE!!!

Haaahhaaaaaa YOU LOOOOSSSERRSSS DUCATI!!!

You nailed it - anyone with championship ambitions.

While Tech3 is the best of the satellite outfits, you know you are fighting extremely hard to get a podium, let alone a win.

I think you have overestimated the salaries at Tech3 by quite some hundreds of thousands. And if you truly believe "the absolute size of your check starts to become somewhat irrelevant" you are flying in the face of human nature.

I doubt very much that Dovi is 'set for life' - especially if he likes nice yachts, fancy pads, expensive vehicles.

He could drop US$10M on a moderate yacht and still be looking for $150k/year to run it... life in the fast lane doesn't come cheap

Did I miss something but when did Cal sign with Ducati?

Thought it was Hayden and Dovi on the factory bikes.

Scott Redding might be the one to save Duc, I think the bike might suit him more than others.

Will be interesting to watch if Marc VDS do take a ducati next season.

no no , maybe i was unclear. i meant that both cal and dovi were keen on going, but as we all know ducati didnt take him in the end but chose dovi instead.

agree about redding, love his riding style and i'd suspect it could work quite well on the duc!

Hayden v Dovi will be interesting. Who else, besides Jumkie thinks Hayden will hand Dovi his ... next year (assuming Dovi-Ducati deal is done) on the Duc?

I'm not sure Dovi is adaptable enough to be able to ride the Ducati but I think he won't do worse than Rossi.

With the right rider, Lorenzo, Stoner, Rossi, i believe the Tech 3 bike could challenge for race wins. Even towards the end of the 800 development, Spies led the Indy GP and finished a relatively close second to Pedro on the Tech 3. I think the biggest difference between factory bikes and satellites are the riders themselves. If you swapped Dovi and Lorenzo's bikes, i would still put money on Lorenzo. If you swapped Stoner and Bradl's bikes, i would still put my money on Stoner.
