Good idea i think, more for the people at the track. Also i think it was mentioned last year that the fewer practice seassions made setup changes and mechanical work unecessarily pressured and stressful for the mechanics and engineers. And if we want to speculate who this will help, i'm voting Nicky Hayden

It's the classic set up, I have really missed the Friday morning sessions.

Not like the bike will be on track more with the engine rule still in place.

Sorry, couldnt resist that one, maybe Rossi has demanded more practice time before each race to give him a better chance on the Ducati

Well the only flaw in ths theory is that it was Stoner, who instigated the request several rounds before the finish of the season. He talked about it wth Parrish when they ran the trial of the 4 sessions again.

But who nows, maybe he was doing it as a developmental thing to help Rossi out at Ducati ......... knowing full well Rossi would need the track time
<

Or maybe it was Stoner's way of saying to Rossi, "here develop it yourself!" ( and provide him with the time to do so
<
<
<
) when Rossi had made the idiotic remark that Stoner was not pushing the Ducati so itwould hinder development ( or simillar
<
). Which makes Rossi's efforts at Valencia so much more of a let down

Oh dear Barry,

What are we to do with you?

According to kropotkin another rule change has been the banning of gps on the premier class bikes other than the dorna devices.

Kropotkin thinks this will have little effect due to the information from accelerometers and gyroscopes (!) being more important or able to give the necessary information for traction control etc anyway. Don't worry barry he only mentions gyroscopes in the role of measuring attitude.

Don't worry I am fully on top of that........ but I was poised like a pit bull ready for someone to start telling us Gyros can be used to map the position on track again, despite all knowledge to the contrary

<
<

Grrrrrrrr ......... you passed Mick, you said the right words ( attitude )
<
<

( PS I wonder if Babel and Yamaka ever got their Gyro based positioning system off the ground ??
<
...
<
<
<
haven't read or heard anything strangely ...... which I would have
<
)

Also good to see some further acknowledgement that GPS has possibly been used for this though wonder why as in an interview with Spies linked on here, he sggested he was switching the engine mapping manually
<
Doesn't say the Yamaha weren't doing it for Lorenzo and Rossi I guess? Maybe thats one of the devices he says the Fiat Yam has that will give him the extra tenths?

Personally I don't care if GPS is gone, but do see that some don't like how it detracts from the "purity" of racing. So "come what may" in my mind.

To be completely honest it seems to me that yamaka and babel, and you, were both right in a sense and were arguing at cross purposes, in that whilst gyros may not be able to be directly used to determine track position, they and accelerometers would seem able to provide adequate information for engine mapping anyway.

Well no you have just put forward my point, Babel insisted that a gyro could be used to ascertain position on track, and when it wasn't going his way he roped Yamaka into the discussion without filling in Yamaka on the "finer details", in the end Yamaka did realise he was agreeing with me though I think.

How would you have gone arguing against babel in norse or whatever though?
