I've never really experianced bad sport's at races, I know stoner got some .... at the day of champs a few years ago (last?), but when Lorenzo went down on Sunday there were massive cheers, and people laughing.

What suprised me the most was 4 spanish geezers directly behind us were the loudest! Granted they had were blantent rossi boppers, they way they wet their pants when he went past each time gave it away.....but surely this is bad taste, especially for them laughing at another spaniard!!

I also found it highly amusing the hordes of JT fans, dressed head to toe in brand new gear - cheering Edwards all the way to second place thinking it was JT - f'kin numpties!

Ha ha ha class !

Surely even Rossi fans would have liked to see another GOAT vs Horhay clash !!!!

I think that behavior is just fine. If you wanna be around the 'civilized', get a paddock pass!

On another note, I'm going all out to ge Jorge signed to a 5th Yamaha with independant sponsorship.
There are many connected and passionate fans on this board who have opportunities to drop ideas on the right people's laps. I've reached out to a few people with some of my GP suggestions. Post your ideas an maybe they'll get heard.

Anecdote:
When I was 7 years old, I went to the Lego factory outside Springfield MA and (with the help of a pushy mom) requested that blank 'ocean blue Baseplates' be sold so I could build my lego cities with rivers and lakes. 1 quarter later they were in stores. Fans can make a difference!

There was no cheering at riders going down where we were. I dont dig the boo boys but i suppose we all show our passion in different ways.

As for the jt gear, .... even i bough me and the misses a shirt. They were top quality and 2 for a tenner. even this old rossi fan couldn't turn his nose up at that

I don't see anything wrong with cheering if a rider goes down.... ONLY if after they knew the rider was not hurt badly or injured. Other then that I see nothing wrong with it.

I must admit though, I almost laughed out loud when Dovizioso applied pressure on Rossi and made him CHOKE !!! bwahahhaha.... loved it.

Thats because your an immature ...... !

Cheering at somebody crash is never cool, not even peders. I know we tend to take sides on who we love and hate, geez I'm the biggest example, but crashing is serious business.

In addition to your question ben, what do people think about the track invasions? I've never seen one here, but it looks nerve racking to the riders. Even though JT looked to accept it and have fun with it.

Ill Cheer for a mechanical and if the rider walks away perfectly ok I like to see a good crash. I even Liked Nickys crash into canepa because it gets the attention of Normal people who dont like Motorcycle racing and shows how Hard all these boys are, when they get back up and ride the next day. when the crashes get serious, thats when its not cool any more. When Haga crashed at Donington it scared the .... out of me I thought he was hurt bad. like i told Jumkie "just because i dont want him to win the championship doesnt mean i want him to die" but luckily he was ok. I dont get the whole spanish fans thing Why the f^&k would you be happy to see your fellow countryman go down and not win the championship. I wont lie to you guys When Rossi went down in Valencia in 06 I cheered like a mad man
<

The biggest cheer I ever heard at Donny was when Gibernau crashed in 05. I'll never understand why anyone would cheer someone else crashing, but I have noticed the ones doing it appear to be the ones who are only there to see Rossi win and seemingly couldn't give a toss about any other rider out there - pretty much the same people who suddenly went very quiet when Rossi binned it this year.

Yeah, there was one or two of them - though Colin is still really popular over here and always gets a great reception at Donny. I don't know if you were there when he got pole a couple of years back, but everyone went mental when he grabbed that one. I'm a big JT fan and even I was cheering him on, hoping he'd finally get the win this year.

I'm all for it just as long as everyone's finished racing. People were running onto the track again this year while guys like Talmacsi and Vermuelen were coming round Starkeys at race pace. The ...... morons don't seem to realise they're still racing round a corner on a wet track at over 100mph and could so easily crash and wipe out god knows how many people. Last year I even saw people taking kids on the track with them.

but my bet is you were cheering because that pretty much ensured your countryman hayboy would win the championship, not th because rossi crashed

So am I then, so called Mr. Chopper!

Let's be human here, you can't help but cheer if your favourite rider's main rival hits the deck in a soft arse kinda way. We don't tend to do it if it's a 'biggy'!

Track invasions.......pathetic in my view. Still, we'll have to wait until someone gets killed I guess.

When you say chopper, are we talking the orange one that you pedal to the local corner shop on to get your woodbines!

i laugh at silly bike drops but highsides ect always scare the .... out of me untill i see them get up ok. caseys 08 laguna crash was funny but hardly life or limb threatening was it ? i hate gibbers but i did not laugh at his catalyuna crash at all. i was quite concerned.

I don't think it is in bad taste. When a rider first makes contact with terra firma, he deserves the respect of the crowd until he is on his feet and visibly not seriously injured. Once that happens he is fair game. At the end of the day, the riders line up for our entertainment. It is a spectator sport, and part of what makes it so interesting are the rivalries and inter personal relationships between the riders. It is only natural that fans will pick favorites, and not-so-favorites. Booing happens at practically every other sporting event in the world, why shouldn't it happen at a MotoGP race?

If a rider were to crash and be seriously injured or even injured to the point that he didn't immediately get up, I think booing would be in bad taste...

I found there to be a lot of 'Rossi fans' at donington this year. Only there to see him win. When Dovi pulled himself upto vale, me, dad and a few others near us were the only ones shouting for dovi, most people were shouting vale to pull away. But boy did they go quiet when he went down bless them, haha.

Never nice to see anyone crash, unless its in a humourous way such as dani's practise start gaffe at phillip island.

As for the track invasions, what knobs! People were pouring through the fences, as vermeulen was still racing through the old hairpin, one guy was literaaly two foot away from him, and the british wonder why everyone thinks we're a bunch of knobs. don't think the riders enjoy it much, i saw colin flailing his leg about at people trying to grab him and i overheard a group of lads having the cheek to moan that marco had told them to piss off out of his way.

it aint funny either way... they race like this to keep fans happy and what you do laugh at them and throw it back in there face?....dont matter which rider it is you should have some respect for what they do. why would any fan of the sport want a rider to go down? its just 1 less on the grid...and then there is also the cost which is ruinning our sport...when a rider goes down it dont cost just a few $$ to put the machine back on the track.

that wasnt choking it was a rider sliding out cos of weather condition's same for lorenzo and the same almost happend to kalio... hardly anything to laugh at you muppet...

Superbly put. I have to agree to some extent about the Rossi mob mentality, although I know I will get shot down in flames for it. But then I'm a bike race fan first, a hero worshipper never.

And if you were trackside of the fences, Craig's spot on. You're a knob!
