"I'm completely sure [Rossi] can challenge, with all the talent he has and all the experience he has. … When he took the decision to go back to Yamaha it was because he wants to come back to the front. He was winning with Yamaha before and he can be at the front again … Valentino is a big name, he is a hero to many and one of the greatest riders in MotoGP history. If he is coming to the podium and winning races it will be very important for the championship."

I love how he talks so matter of factly knowing damn well most of his audience (fan base and "experts") see VRs record  as earned against a level playing-field and return to Yamaha as a favor to us.  His unfettered shameless arrogance coming from knowing he is basically talking to the typical housewife version of fans that tunes in to the supebowl with the favored team jersey, completely oblivious to the fact that Carmelo Clause has been essentially gifting the favored team a head start in every possible situation for years.

Before the horde of new fake-noob Kropo handles appear to tell me its just confirmation bias, allow me to remind ourselves of Carmelo Clause previous Rossi-centric influence by posting this imaginary article of how the sport arrived at a single tire supplier.

http://moto-racing.speedtv.com/article/motogp_dorna_pressures_bridgestone_to_supply_rossi_or_else/

Ezpeleta pressured him on Saturday to either supply Bridgestone tires to Valentino Rossi or he would make good on his threat to impose a single tire system in MotoGP (Michelin intends to bid "whatever it takes" to obtain exclusive rights, Ezpeleta said last week in Australia).

Yasukawa, the man who directed Bridgestone's Formula 1 efforts prior to the withdrawal of Michelin and the subsequent acquisition of role of sole supplier in F1, has ever received such a frank ultimatum, even from the likes of Bernie Ecclestone.

This is all rather precious and transparent diplomacy, but the facts are simple and Dorna's reasons for putting pressure on Bridgestone are clear. Without Rossi running at the front, TV audiences are down all over the world.

I like this last quote: "precious and transparent diplomacy", one with a brain could only imagine the .... that has not made the news and all stayed behind closed doors.  But then again, that would just be conspiracy theory on my part...

Valentino is bound by contract to Yamaha and could not jump ship, even if there were a ship to jump to (the only rides available are on satellite teams), but when he was asked what he would do if Yamaha did not obtain Bridgestone for him, he hesitated and said, "I'd have to think it over." Italian journalists interpreted that as a threat to quit, and the Italian journalists have been right about the details of this complicated three-way (Dorna-Yamaha-Bridgestone) negotiation from the beginning.

That so weird, it seems this imaginary article is saying the negotiations were by the league, one of its contestants, and a factory team.  But that would never happen again, right?  I mean assuming this even happened as is stated here.  Haven't people been saying Rossi's return to Yamaha was unaided by Carmelo Clause?  Ah, its just my conspiracy confirmation bias creeping back into my paranoid mind...

If Bridgestone accepts this situation -- and it appears that they will -- Rossi's garage will be divided by a wall and there will be no exchange of information with his new teammate, Spain's Jorge Lorenzo.

BTW, on a side note, though actually related to this lame notion that the Rookie Rule disappearance (as some have argued including "experts") was eliminated on the grounds it would created an undue complicated situation for Team Gresini; check out the mess it created in the Yamaha garage to have two different tire manufactures.  So much for wanting to keep things simple for teams and competing sponsorship deals when it came  to considering Carmelo Clause's influence on the sport.  Wait, none of this was done to aid the sport's favorite son's right?  It was simply decided for the "good for the sport".
