MotoGp needs to learn a little bit from F1..well F1 is a pricking boring but still able to attract sponsorship..More manufacturers and engine suppliers..But Dorna has killed the sports with its ideas

Cool. I'm getting a Royal Enfield shirt post haste.

Just wait till we see "Slumdog Stoner" on the Royal enfield, you'll see some riding then!

I hope ........ well if his health can stand it ........ is lactose intolerance and diarrhea a bad combination?

Do current fans of MotoGP actually want the sport to significantly expand its fanbase? Or would they prefer it to remain a niche sport?

My personal answer would be that I would like it to expand and be better known. Not just because that would create more interest and then bring more money and teams in, but because I'd like other people to enjoy it too.

Expand my Arse if these stats are correct for 2013

Of the 86 riders taking part in Moto GP in 2013, 65 (or 75.58%) have competed in the Spanish CEV Buckler Championship at some point in their career.

its going no where La victoria de España

I would really like it to get popular enough so that I could talk about it with more than two other people in my city. When Marco passed, it wasn't even mentioned here in the press.

As have ALL the current British GP riders, except Cal.

I've been pondering this... maybe the MSMA needs to take the rider right out of the equation.

Monkeys, on radio-controlled bikes run from pit lane. That way Honda don't have to worry about riders diluting their brand.

Well I started watching motogp and my daughter started to watch too, she'd never watch F1 with me, but she likes the bikes for some reason.

Bumping this thread which was perhaps one of our best interactions among members.

(Well, that was until BJCnt's insightful input about putting monkeys on bikes. I guess there is no wiki-page on this topic, so he didn't have nothing to cut and paste).

Anywho, I read this today on Motomatters (below). I honestly thought it was a joke, then hoped it was a joke by the time I got to the end, which would have made it sorta brilliant, I suppose; but I think this guys was for real. Anyway, the premise is, lets tap into the teenage girl demographic since, I suppose by logic, teenage girls will follow them like they do boy-bands via social media and spend money. The conclusion made is they would solve the sponsorship woes of the sport. I'm not so sure I agree for many many many reasons. But, I guess we can throw this idea into the pile of other ideas expressed on this thread. (Though I was thinking, don't we already have a teenybopper demographic in GP? I digress.)

I have a guest contribution piece i'd like to pitch to Kropo. Here is my idea to save the sport from financial collapse: Lets get Dorna to require all riders to adopt cats. Then have as part of the GP feed a catcam. Tapping into the wave of the future which is viewer interaction with the programing content (who hasn't voted on American Idol or Dancing with the Stars); the spectator at home can switch between catcams to look at their favorite rider's cat. Because everybody knows all people do is look at oh so cute cats on the internet, cat videos, cat pictures, cat motivational poster, etc. So, I predict, this will bring in millions and millions of fans from all over the world and their money. Who hasn't seen a great cat viral video? I'm telling you, we need to tap into this demographic. We can sell posters of the cats wearing the gear of each rider, and sell them for 30 dollars. The cat with the yellow gear obviously will go for 45 dollars. That will bring in a billion dollars. .....

(Above is just the premise, I could expand essay to exactly 2268 words if necessary) :)

I note you didn't mention a single one of your 'many many' reasons...

Teenage girls and gay men, two huge growth markets for MotoGP.

I think the idea of expanding the girl fan base is good and if Rossi actually came out the gay fan base would be sorted as well.

I can see it now, Kotex Honda Race Team

...send me a t-shirt :D

Krop you coming to the Austin Texas MotoGP?? :)
