The worst thing about visiting the US? The coffee. They claim that Starbucks is "proper coffee" whereas it is just barely one step up from bat piss. Of course, compared the UK, American coffee is very good, but that's like saying that compared to his father, Kim Jong Il is a liberal.

Italy, Spain, Holland. These are countries where you can get a decent cup of coffee. Not the US.

I have had Starbucks coffee for the first time in my life in december (apparantly, that fact in itself is enough to amaze some people). ....... hell. Tasted like ... and bloody expensive. I had something from the cake stuff too. Blugh. Now wonder all Americans are fat diabetics.

coffee is for girls.

i think dorna are getting better at this, i think its great and necessary to put more old races online or at least a few clips a fan can send to his buddies to get them interested.

Haven't been to every state in the union - but can tell you that this is not true in NY and Seattle. In the cities good coffee is readily available. In the small towns - not so much.

Primadonna twats.. Only thing that annoys me more than liquor or pot snobs are coffee snobs...

We drink cowboy coffee here sir, not ...... coffee poured into a thimble :....:

That's just 'cause your tastebuds are numbed from too many years of inhaling tumbleweed dust.

Seriously.... what Dave said about Amsterdam is true. One of the reasons I love the place; can't get a bad cup of coffee there

- that, and the fact women there aren't afraid to look men in the eye. Lots of really tall women in Amsterdam and Dutch women

are really easy (if you're not a stoner or stupid) to talk to.

The one thing that I object to most about American coffee is that fact that it does not appear to contain any traces of actual coffee. It reminds me of the joke about certain beers. What's the similarity between American coffee and making love in a canoe? It's ....... close to water.

Dude.. theres 50 states in the US not everyone/everything is the same.. stop painting with such a wide brush. Just take the ....... coffee already and lets get a taco and take some pics of some Texas sized ....

I have traveled to several states in the US, and the one thing they all have in common is the quality of the coffee.

Yeah and McDonalds in Holland tastes like .... to... and sitting on the airport to catch a flight does not count as visiting a state

Oh. Really? .....

On average, I cross the Atlantic once a week.  Some weeks I do it more often.  I've been to just about every large European city at least three times.  Starbucks is absolute .....  There is no doubt about that.  However, I've NEVER seen more .... instant coffee sold as real coffee anywhere in the world save Europe.  Instant coffee would never be served in an upscale restaurant in any large US city nor would and real hotel dare serve that trash.  It's use it extremely prevalent in Europe, I've always been surprised by that.

There are plenty of exceptions but I don't find the store bought .... to be any less ...... in Europe than America.  Europeans seem to really enjoy their Starbucks, they're everywhere!  McDonalds too.  It's unfortunate but it doesn't look like discerning coffee drinkers have cornered the market in Europe any more than they have the states.

The best coffee joint I've been to anywhere in the world is..... http://www.intelligentsiacoffee.com/locations

And then there's the Nanny State...

 agree.

People judging our coffee based on the commercialized .... at Starbucks. I suppose "American" burgers are .... cuz they dont like McDonalds hamburgers. :rolls eyes:

Btw, i've tasted Euro coffee. Not sure why they even call it coffee, should call it feces in the form of sirup, oh and served in a urine test cup.

Lil Red, i'll treat u too some great 'American' coffee bro. Straight from Mexico. A little blend called 'cafe de olla'

My one and only experience of Starbucks was just so I could use the drive-through. The slight novelty of which was not worth the foamy milk I received.

Vietnamese Coffee/Kopi Lawak...

With beans strained through a civet cat.

Couldn't tell if the beans passing through the civet cat's hoop made any difference. It, however, may have enjoyed the experience

I'm with you - NY and Seattle coffee is good. Just not Starbitches.

Even in a small country like NZ, coffee is very regionalised - in Wellngton it is outstanding, everywhere else, it's like the UK :)

Last year the wife and I went to Kuching (cat city) in Sarawak - not so far from where they grow coffee and have civet cats. The coffee was awful, as is coffee anywhere in the world when made by Malays or Chinese.

Not being racist, I really like both Malays and Chinese as people, but they should stick to making tea.

I bought some beans and took them home to my lovely Italian espresso machine and it was a different brew. I really must save up and buy one of those fancy Swiss coffee machines. It's probably the reason they don't turn all their guns on each other ;)

I happen to agree with the general awfulness of the coffee in Malaysia and Indo.

I did get into some of their more bitter/sour black kopi (o-Koson)....seemed the right thing as a early morning hangover heartstarter/mouth scourer.

But coffee in Vietnam is the business.
