duhamel disapointment!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(MigsAngel @ Jul 23 2007, 11:00 AM) <div class='quotemain'>Duhamel rides for money now and not glory.

While I'll admit that his Moto GP outing was sad, I can't agree with the above statement. After riding for the Honda factory and getting paid by Honda for so long, would Miguel be worried about money now? He sure battled hard for the podium spot with Yates and Hodgson. Miguel has also been consistently one of the best of the rest in SBK this season. For someone who doesn't care about "glory," Miguel has ridden awful well this year.

I have been a fan of Miguels since the Smokin Joe's days. His comments on his retirement from the race struck me as very Un-Miguel. Something was up with him. I do think it's a good idea to not get in the way of the fast riders.
Miguel doesn't ride just to fill a space for a paycheck he rides to do the best he can. If you've seen him race this season you should notice that.
I was very disappointed but a guy with as much experience as he does would know better than me the overweight couch jockey.

I have seen him race and think he can ride well...but he's become a moving chicane riding for a Honda Paycheck....and is taking up a good seat in an AMA team that needs better younger riders come to the forefront.....AKA Miguel Should Retire.

He's been 3rd in points behind Mladin and Spies for the last two years running. He podiums more than any other rider in the field (not counting the two Yosh supermen)

Frankly you don't know what the hell you are talking about.

i was gutted he didnt do better and parked it, i was really rooting for him cos he is old and my mate povol has been dissin the more muture racers lately, would have been great if he got a top ten.

Your right I don't know what I am talking about, clearly his display on Sunday showed his real skill and ability on motorcycle, and so did the 2007 Daytona 200...he must be an an up season and will surely take the much coveted AMA title...and being 3rd and down by near a hundred points on the guy in second makes him great...perhaps he should lead more laps or take more pole positions to score more points and win the much coveted AMA giveaway title....I think the younger AMA riders all look up to Duhamel as a guy whose just riding around and not trying to win the title by taking a good seat at Honda which someone with more hunger could be using to take the fight to the Yoshimura 'supermen'...
He's a a moving chicane and its time for it to retire.

1. He had fuel problems at Daytona. So did 3 other Hondas. How is that a measure of skill? Not even Valentino Rossi could have finished Daytona 2007 on Miguel's bike.

2. No one can touch Mladin and Spies. He may be 100 points down, but he is still ahead of everyone else in the field. THAT is a measure of talent, and proof that he isn't just filling a seat.

3. Neither Yates nor T. Hayden can/could touch Mladin/Spies on the same equipment. They couldn't even beat Miguel consistently. What makes you think that a younger rider on Miguel's Honda can do better?

Hate on Miguel and the AMA all you want, but try to come up with better arguments. You clearly do not have facts to back your case.

If I was given the chance of a one-off MotoGP ride at my 'home' circuit, or any circuit for that matter, then I would at least try to finish the race

Miguel was a disappointment because expectations were obviously way to high, At the end of the day he is an old man who has never been more than an AMA front runner.
