Dovizioso criticises rider aids

I don't know how its gonna go from here on, think we'll see more riders like Stoner coming into motogp with no world championships and winning the title at the first or second attempt.

Well whats new about that???
<

Actually I kinda know how you feel though ..... after Doohan we were left in a bit of a lull ..... lots of folk dropped motogp here ...... but meh ... I think its just the development gets me ..... even though I love to watch the winner putting together a season ..... like my avatar says " whoever is winning" .... I go for them ..... be they dog, albanian, Stoner, Schwantz, Doohan ...... I just love watching that winnng championship go together ...... and they all exhibit a hunger ... even Stoner had it .... as soon as he got te Duc. deal I could sense it ... ( they don't allways win though even with that hunger
<
) Rossi even had .... Pedrosa "had it" in spurts but I must admit after he knocked off Hayden ... that part of his psyche seems repressed .... maybe it'll come back ... he ssemed better this year though.. Who knows I might be following Pedrosa in 08!?
<

So as you can see ..... sure it might be time for some to take the bat and ball and go home ..... but me ... I like watching the new guy that keeps wanting to play

I think one thing that is indisputable about casey stoner is that he has a ferocious doohan-like will to win, and like doohan he prefers to dominate rather than just win, unlike rossi who is a pure racer. This can lead to boredom for non-fans when he has a potentially dominant package like this year, and like doohan had in most of his championships.

Next year may be more revealing as to whether stoner has doohan-like talent.

But to continue flogging a dead horse, he is not responsible for the rules and could not have done much more than he did this year.

I agree with dovi that less electronic aids would be good, and I suspect casey would too; I think he is on record as saying he preferred the 990s.

i never thought bikes could go this far, i'm shocked with how good the development is.

but sport should always be about skill not about what bike your on.

It was about what bike you were on when Ago won, it about machinary when ago switched to two stroke. It was about machinary when Spencer won, it was about machinary when Doohna won and when Rainey won. Almost never does the machinary take a back seat, and even ess often is a machinary defecit overcome.

That's correct about Stoner - there was a very nice interview with him on SpeedTV web site some time ago,
http://www.speedtv.com/articles/moto/motogp/38522/
whre he touched upon all main subjects.
Really interesting stuff...

Exactly, and when sheene and Roberts were busy trying to invent back protectors and change the sport to be safer, they were just being sissy's. unsure.gif
how can you group personal safety equipment and motorcycle electronics together tom, that laughable.
i think it was you who pointed out tc was not used for safety , but was used because its faster a while back.

Well there has always been one dominant manufacturer past and present thats racing.. we where talking about the rider aids nowadays that help any racer come into motogp and instantly do a decent lap... that is wrong imo.

Of Course the fastest riders in motogp turn TC down as Colin said so theres no need for it unless you like to watch average racers near the front.

We need to highlight and reward the good riders not the mediocre ones.

So who is this mythical rider who instantly came in and did a decent lap?

Hasn't happened yet, why worry that it will happen in the future?

But Colin said he average guy will turn up the TC and finish down back of midfield.

Stoner won ... Dani second ..... Rossi 3rd ...... thats how the reward system goes. Its not based on who has the most fans or who comes up with the best reasons why they didn't win. Its based on race performance throughout the season.

Which riders do you feel were not rewarded accordingly this year?

Colin seems to be suggesting they had the TC turned down the most ..... so why are you still unhappy with that?

Basically everyone new that rode this year.. Ant West, Davies, Haydens brother... etc

Yes the championship works out fine but on a race to race situation you have guys springing up good results then the next race they are nowhere.

Its not that i feel riders are not rewarded accordingly, my gripe is its getting harder for the great riders because the guy down in 8th place is doing same lap minute to the leaders and that should not be because they are not all the same, are they?

If you turn it down doesn't mean you will be faster than the other guy. I think the people turning it down do not have the right setup or their bike has problems and needs to go faster so they are compensating with risk.
