Dovizioso changes suspension supplier

By Steven English Thursday, September 3rd 2009, 11:22 GMT

Andrea Dovizioso has swapped suspension supplier for the rest of the MotoGP season, beginning with the San Marino GP at Misano this weekend.

The factory Honda rider has swapped from Showa to Ohlins shocks after sampling the latter's parts in the post-race test at Brno last month.

Showa has consented to Dovizioso's move, which the HRC team says is part of the development plan for the Honda RC212V.

Pedrosa, who set the pace all weekend last time out at Indianapolis, will continue to use Showa suspension.

Dani tested them at Brno as well and was generally positive about them. Dovi's probably getting development kickstarted.

This has to be a hard pill for Honda to swallow since Showa is a subsidirary of the Honda Corporation. I wonder if they would have made the move if Ohlins was still owned by Yamaha.

Are they getting desperate?
