Feels like Pecco is the brave and right move...a young gun...he looked awesome on that bike at Jerez..its like he didn't get the memo about how the bike doesn't turn.

Would love to see it but not gonna happen. If he can win in WSBK and get title then they'd pull him back in 2022... Maybe
It will be Pecco and move Zarco up to Pramac.

Dovi has a couple seasons left in him, and Ducati have indicated that it wasn't about the money... so what is it that Dovi wants, and does he think he can find it elsewhere?
who gets Dovis seat? Pecco makes the most sense, after all he currently rides a factory Ducati, however I have a feeling it will be Zarco. Ducati have seemed very keen on Zarco, Paolo Ciabatti seems to be obsessed with Zarco in every interview.

I want Ducati to elevate someone direct from Moto2. Namely Jorge Martin.
No history on Yam,Hon,Suz etc. No preconceptions of what the bike should be like.
Here's a GP21, ride it as best you can.
I wonder if Bastianini or Marini would be more likely due to being Italian? Is anyone in Moto2 got a ride in GP for next year? If not I would love Ducati to take whoever wins the title. It doesn't and wouldn't sit right with me if the champion, whoever it may be remains in moto2 while a guy who finished below him is rewarded with a factory Ducati.
What sort of reward is a factory Ducati motogp ride ?. Which riders exactly have had a satisfactory overall experience ?. Every single rider who has won a race for them has either left unhappy with them or been sacked (Bayliss before he won his one-off race), including Stoner who won 23 races and their only championship, and now Dovi who has won 15 races and counting and is a fair chance of winning the championship this year.

I don't disagree with you for the most part. Their rider management has been terrible. Gone are the days of Stoner, Bayliss Capirossi etc. Public comments from an ..... within their management pushed Lorenzo to approach Honda. Without knowledge of what was going on in negotiations I'm not jumping down Ducati's throat simply for the fact that, I doubt Dovi would've been ok with anything less that a factory bike. He will be 35 next year, a ride at Pramac should have been a given but if he refused to accept it then I don't blame Ducati. They need to move on IMO. 2020 is Dovi's only chance at bringing them a championship with Marquez out.
I was down on Dovi as well, and he will never beat a vaguely healthy Marquez, but his 15 race wins (EDIT 14 for Ducati) have more or less crept up on me and are hard to dismiss. From my point of view as a Jorge fan he cost Ducati Jorge who might have had the wherewithal to beat MM on outright pace rather than guile, racecraft and tyre management and have offered more development-wise. I am a Jack fan, but while he has good one lap pace he has as yet not demonstrated the ability to get his tyres to last till the end of a dry race. I don’t disagree they should get someone from the young brigade such as Bagnaia who looked a million dollars on a Yamaha track before his engine blew not giving Him the chance to demonstrate he could make his tyres last, or a top moto 2 guy.

It seems that we are on a similar page with this. I don't think it would be stupid or a mistake to sign Dovi but I also see and understand why they might not be so keen to sign him either. In their perfect world they probably would've liked to pout Dovi in Pramac and moved a younger guy to the factory seat. Keeping him around for his input and experience. Though if Gigi is anything to go by, maybe his input development wise isn't as important as we might think it is.

Dovi has been the only consistent rider on a Ducati the last 8 or so years, you could even make the case that he is one of the most consistent riders on the grid not named Marquez. Ducati would be stupid not to offer a significant contract to him based on what he consistently delivers for the team. If I had to speculate I think the money was there, but the length of the contract not. Jack only got a 1 year deal with an option for a second, with Dovi's age there is no doubt that he wants some job security.
Where does Dovi go? I think if Honda knew he would be available next year they would have taken him over Pol, can they make room? Ktm might be a more realistic option, they have the money (Dovi and RedBull have a relationship). I also think Ducati might still be an option, they may not want him to take all that Ducati intel to a rival factory.

I wonder if Honda have a buy out option on Pols contract. Ie they pay him a certain amount and don’t have to take him. I’m sure they would also prefer Dovi. They don’t need a young up and comer but an older wiser rider with experience on both Yamaha and Ducati could be god for them.

Dovi is a more mature rider now, and if he goes to KTM he will be competition for the Repsol team.
