On the hill at Craners, outfield Redgate, Coppice infield 'mound' or at the Melbourne loop for desperate outbraking and sideways action - (does that happen anymore?). Failing all that, on the telly in the Redgate pub.

you cant really get to the outfield at redgate, thats the bit that stops you walking all round the track because the paddock is there, the infield at redgate is pretty good, by the fence

Well as it stands I will have to hold it til I get to Indy this year. I think I can expect to soil the ole' trousers for that race if my friend comes through with all the pit passes and such. If he gets that stuff I think I'll .... em for everyone here. Gonna need a big depends! lol.

Walk up the outside of Starkeys straight, cross over the Dunlop bridge, & keep walking to wards the pits. There's a tunnel on the left that will take you under the track. There's a dirt track that leads right behind the pits from there, past the clinica mobile & up to Redgate. It's slightly quicker

The first year I went I walked the long way round, & was ...... for the whole day!!

Unless it's changed since I was last there (couple of years ago) you can no longer get into the bar at Redgate - years ago they made it part of the paddock with just a serving hatch open to buy beers in the outfield.

. In the 80's we used to go for the Transatlantics at easter. It nearly always rained and I remember walking to Redgate the long way round in full gear including waterproofs and helmets to try to stay dryish.

Those were the days though - not only could you get into the Redgate bar then, but often you'd see (and get to chat to) the likes of Schwantz and Rainey in there after the race.

I used to go to watch the Transatlantic Trophy too - (Donington and Oulton). It's not the rain that sticks in my mind (although '86 was bad)- more the sleet and snow.

Speaking of Schwantz, first time he rode at Donington, which was in one of the Transatlantic challenges, he allegedly rode out of the paddock the wrong way expecting the circuit to 'go left' as it would in The States.

I think you're right about the Redgate pub...I last went in at a BSB meeting in about '01, but saying that I did have paddock access and I can't remember how or why.

Yes walked all the way round via the carpark, but on a sunny evening, beer in hand it's not that bad.
