All I had heard about Casey Stoner and Carlos Checa riding for Pons Honda were rumors that looked very promising. I hadn't seen anything on www.crash.net, www.superbikeplanet.com or www.motogp.com that mentioned anything about them signing. I'm looking at all the debuts today and to my surprise I see Stoner and Checa out riding the RC211V. Just wondering if anyone saw that. I'll post the results of todays times...

2. Marco Melandri, Honda - 1'34.7 / 8
3. John Hopkins, Suzuki - 1'34.9
4. Casey Stoner, Honda - 1'35.0 / 69
5. Carlos Checa, Honda - 1'35.1 / 33

Your close Ooost but our national bike news paper MCN,had it that Casey Stoner, who was apparently snatched from under Yamaha's nose ?and will partner Checa but the problem at the moment lies with the fact that after Honda have dumped biaggi, and that Camel may pull the plug with their sponsership after this incident, but could do a u turn yet ?
<
rumours, rumours !here's a link for the MCN view of the rider's for 2006 !

motogp rides for 2006 !?

Stoner's deal is done, here's a link Stoner @ Pons

He's signed for 3 years, now Pons need to fix the sponsor problem, either make Camel stay or find someone else who'll pay 4€ million.

Checa has also signed, although there's an option to dump him in case Pons had to stick with Camel and Biaggi.

Interesting stuff Guys!

So Stoner is on a Pons RCV along with Checa.

Honda are really putting their faith in young blood arent they?!! Its good to see and it brings new life to motogp.

they always have for the most part. what the hell is yamaha doin. no youngins at all. they better get on it ! rossi ain't gonna stick around for ever.

They're digging their own grave just as they did since the early 90's. In the early 90's they had Rainey and that was good enough for them, they were winning championships and didn't have to worry about finding the next rider to be heir to the throne. We all know Wayne's career ended abruptly and Yamaha were left with their thumbs up their ..... for 10 years. The same thing will happen when Rossi leaves. Yamaha are too busy celebrating all the titles they're winning to search for their next heir to the throne and when Rossi leaves it will be another 10 years before they find someone to save them.

Just to reply to my own post I just read that there is no official lineup for Honda Pons in 2006 despite the fact that Checa and Stoner have both signed.

So at this point, where are the teams/riders/sponsors at?

By Rider - Team - Sponsor, can someone list whats final and whats left? whos left? whos unsigned, what are possable teams/sponsors, etc?

(Alice??) Yamaha - Rossi & Edwards
Repsol Honda - Hayden & Pedrosa
Fortuna Honda - Melandri & Elias
Pons Honda - Checa & Stoner (Camel may be the sponsor or not)
Konica Minolta Honda - Tamada
Malboro Ducati - Capirossi & Gibernau
D'Antin Ducati - Ellison & either Cardoso or Rolfo
Kawasaki - Nakano & de Puniet
Suzuki - Hopkins & Vermeulen (Some rumors say Rizla may sponsor)
Roberts Honda - KrJr latest rumor says he is with Biaggi
(Blata?) WCM - ?? & ?? Who will they run and with what?
Tech 3 (Yamaha?) - ?? & ?? No sponsor leaves them with no riders. Stoner was supposed to come here but after no sponsor he went to Pons. Ironically enough he has no sponsor (for now) too.

Should the Tech 3 team exist next season I've heard they have big interest in Rolfo. I also am not sure if the Biaggi to KR will work out, I see too much trouble with HRC's feelings towards the Roman and them supplying powerplants to KR, I forsee a single man team on Michelin rubber fielding KRjr.

????!!! i can't see that ! i don't think ktm will get involved with the big class until the new regs in 07 at the very earliest. if ever again.

I've heard the same things. I would assume they are just leftovers from the Team KR KTM project. I can't see KTM putting anymore money into a formula that will expire after this season after all the fuss they made about funding in 2005. Even 2005 spec KTM V4s would be better than what Peter Clifford can produce in house.
