Damn! I was going for Dovi!

.... all of this "7th place and trying to matter" ........ with rossi!

I was going for Dovi .... and I would still love to see him win a wc.
But now I'm rooting for Marc. after all the manipulative bs. And Marc is going to step it up a notch in actual on track riding. He'll be more focussed and ..... well a different' more difficult, person to deal with than he was at the beginning of the year.

Before all this crap I thought Dovi had a good chance ..... now its looking a lot harder cos you bopper .......s just made Marquez a whole lot better.

its a long season, we haven't even got to Europe yet!
looking at Dovi, he is actually on a better pace this year when compared to last

Yes but my point is that .... Marquez is now a different competitor. He was getting fairly "laid back" but this rubbish has brought him back into dominate mode.

Back to back wins were possibly hard because its hard not to be complacent ..... perhaps this whole episode has helped Marc. With that.

MM has shown already that he is not someone to play mind games with or that he particularly cares for the adulation of the crowd. Behind the perma-smile is a ruthless and calculated competitor yet there are those that still think it is good to try and get under his skin.

I see him completely differently. Remember that VR was MM's "hero" growing up. He seemed genuinely surprised and hurt when Rossi first started speaking poorly of him in the press conferences. My guess is that he was devastated to be booed, but his dad, and maybe others, have talked him into the place that he is now, where he can deal with it.

In addition, this is the guy that jumps into his team's arms and they throw him up in the air while chanting. That seems like a friendly and fun guy. The Repsol team isn't exactly a bunch of punk kids. I think the MM smile is more real than most out there, and he has a nice little Spanish victory dance, too.

I think both posts are probably true.

He does seem to belong to the don’t get mad get even school though, and even I think he is a little careless of consequences.

I agree with this 100%. He's leading the championship and that's with the Duc' boggie tracks of Argentina and COTA out of the way.

It does seem there will probably be more biggie tracks for the Duc and Dovi coming up ie PI and Valencia while there is no biggie tracks for Marquez and Honda outside of Qatar IIRC with many of his strongest tracks still to come.

If Marc can beat Dovi at Mugello and The Red Bull ring, then it's over.
Although I can't call Jerez, if he can heal in time then Dani could do it (and I hope he does).
I have a Yamaha down for Le Mans, I know that's pretty ambiguous, but it's as good as I can offer at the moment.

I agree he seemed surprised and hurt by Rossi's accusations but the booing never seemed to bother him.
I didn't mean the perma-smile is an act by the way. He does seem genuinely happy and his celebrations with his team show how close they are. That is also clear in the last couple documentaries made about them. That doesn't make him any less ruthless or competitive. For me, that's what makes him such an interesting character

It's pretty hard to estimate where everyone is now. Unless Marquez crashes I expect him on the podium in LeMans but I don't think it's a guaranteed Yamaha victory either and Marquez should be fighting for a win in Jerez. Agree about the Red Bull ring though. I just don't see Dovi and Ducati being consistent enough to take it to Marquez over the entire season especially now the Honda is better. I think we will know after Mugello if Marquez is going to run away with the title or not though.

Thinking about it, if we remove the anomaly of Marc getting zero points in Argentina, then, judging by his obvious speed at Rio Hondo, the championship would be a different picture.
