35 Year-old Cal will be riding an M1… for three races.

Dani is BTW - confirmed to be doing at least one wild card for KTM.

How many laps at Austria before he crashes out?
Being on a Yamaha.... who knows? He might just finish. Also, he won't be motivated to push all that hard. He's not looking for championship points and isn't trying to impress sponsors in hopes of a contract for '22.

Sure enough. Cal's got a nice nest egg now and wants to pop by, say hello to the gang, take in the smells of the hot engines in pit lane, cruise around for two weekends, then head home for a few pints at the pub, tell a few stories to his mates and then toddle home to the missus and his little girl. Nobody's expecting more than that. Am I right?

I actually for a moment, thought to myself, 'who the heck is this teammate you're referring to?' ... and then... :p

I personally don't see any reason to be anti-Rossi at this point in time. I would like to see him take his rightful place in the history of the sport, and find him still riding at age 42 to finish outside the top 10 and seemingly estranged from Yamaha rather sad. I guess he did play his part in Jorge Lorenzo of whom I was a fan finishing his career similarly with a whimper not a bang and also estranged from Yamaha despite winning 3 titles for them; the other riders who managed this prior to him are universally recognised as all time greats and are Yamaha icons in retirement.

I not so long ago read his biography, leaving me with a more wholesome view of him that definitely ends in much respect and best wishes. It's just that I've so much moved on regarding his presence as a competitive force on the grid. I have assumed his upcoming retirement which I do hope happens. I actually had to think for a moment who Crutchlow's teammate would be. The summer break has been long too.

Rossi has himself to blame for any anti Rossi sentiment. I won’t forget why I still carry that sentiment.
I do however also hold some good memories of good performances of his.

Yamaha has really imploded in some ways over the last decade or so. Much of that I would say Rossi has had a significant impact with but it's strange that they more or less alienated a lot of talent due to/for him and now it looks like they won't have a relationship with him at all once he is done.

I honestly thought that the most likely scenario for Yamaha was to have the Petronas team as their factory team or factory sponsor with Rossi running the junior team. I would guess there is probably more sponsorship money/stable money for Yamaha with Petronas than a Rossi managed team that relies on his start to generate sponsorship. It was no secret that the Petronas team manager didn't want him on the team but caved to Yamaha or Dorna pressure but I wonder if outside of that Rossi has done something to piss Petronas off enough for them to say it his team or our team? With Yamaha fielding 3 current spec bikes, the right sponsorship money would allow them to field 3 year old bikes I would think. Rossi has shown he can bring in that kind of sponsorship money (unless the offer from the Saudis is off the table if he doesn't ride) and they would also keep the man around that they seem to have given up so much for.

I find it very hard to forgive the negative sentiment his various rivals have endured from his significant fan base.
Rossi could have stopped that.
He chose not to.
Rossi himself has exhibited some fairly ugly behaviour toward his rivals.
I won't miss him.

Sure, as a Stoner tragic i apportion him considerable blame for making Casey Stoner’s life miserable by off track means, more than I did when Casey was actually racing at which time I blamed his fans rather than Rossi himself.

He is one of the greats when all is said and done though, and was good from the getgo in the junior classes well before he became Dorna’s cash cow or whatever. While I was very keen on seeing Stoner then Lorenzo beat him, and after 2015 didn’t mind MM beating him as well, I take no pleasure in watching him finish 15th.

Besides JLo he also had a hand in knocking askew the careers of Stoner, Marquez, hell even Spies probably got unholy pressure to get the hell out of the way for his ....

A new day cant come soon enough.

I just don't want to hear any fan come out from under the dirt and say he still got it or something like that.

Marc and Carl in front of him will avoid that & will also add to my own enjoyment but that wasn't the main reason.

We all have our stories i guess but Rossi has made MotoGp extremely unenjoyable for me for like 6 years straight and when i thought things were starting to go well Laguna 2008 happened and more. I reserve my right to despise Rossi at any stage of his career.
