From MCN today:

Colin Edwards has played down talk that he will lead development for Michelin if the French brand takes over from Bridgestone as official MotoGP tyre supplier in 2016.

Michelin submitted its formal proposal to secure the exclusive tyre deal during last weekend’s Le Mans round, and the French manufacturer is a red-hot favourite to secure a return to MotoGP for the first time since 2008.

It prompted speculation that veteran American Edwards, who will retire at the end of 2014, will clinch a testing contract.

From a racing perspective, CE hasn't got it, but yeah he's probably quicker than most test riders.

What worries me is he's rarely been able to set up a GP motorcycle to his liking. Where does that leave him as a valuable and reliable contributor of data?

I wonder what carrot Carmelo has dangled to get Michelin to bid? Given they weren't interested last time around in 2009.

WTF? He's been praised by every team, factory and teammate that he's ridden with in MGP regarding his bike development skills... He got the freakin' POS Kwacker within a hair of Asparagus' dominant ART by the end of the year last year with his old man bod... Rarely been able to set up a bike my ...!

They weren't interested 'cause no one but Ducati wanted their black rubber bands at the time - do you have memory issues?
